“great night's sleep, great price, but need to plan dining ahead of time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

As other reviewers have noted they are in the middle of renovations, but they still give you what you expect in a Westin hotel - clean, comfortable rooms, great service and a good night's sleep. It was great to have a down comforter on the bed and a window that opens. And the price was a bargain for a Westin - likely because of the renovations.

The only thing that was unfortunate is the lack of options in terms of dining. The Westin's restaurant/bar had a modest menu, and the Starbucks was very small (no egg sandwiches for breakfast, for example), but there are very few resaurants in the neighbourhood. So you will need to plan your meals ahead of time - you can't simply look out the window and see a handfull of options. This wasn't Westin's fault - I'm including this just as a caution for future visitors.

Room Tip: No big surprises here. Rooms on the top floor - the seventh - are quieter. As well, you should ask...

Awesome hotel just right outside the Boston area. Plenty of amenities within the hotel such as gym, spa, snack bar, etc. Room was extremely comfortable and spacious. Hotel staff was courteous and knowledgeable. I would stay here again if afforded the opportunity.

Room Tip: Rooms about mid-level are awesome because they are closer to the ground floor and less noise level.

Green Features: I have no knowledge of the hotel's environmentally-friendly practices.

I'd stay in a Westin around the world any time, but not this one ! Forget the renovations, they are no excuse and not linked to my issues at all. First. Bed, pillow case covered in holes, took it to reception and asked for the bedding to be changed. (after my first night). Girl said, i must have requested green service. Pointed out that a. I had only been there one night, B. green shouldn't mean crap. She said she would "ask" house keeping to change the bedding. That night, checked, new pillow case, but that was it. there was in fact a stain on the bottom sheet, not big, but enough to know if they had been changed, and quite visible. I asked again, was told they had changed the bed, but would do it again next day. over the 5 days of my stay - the bedding never changed at all. The very visible stain remained. Breakfast. My colleague asked for the smoked salmon, lady brought out the Salmon benedykt - not a biggy, but he said thats not what i ordered. She said, yes it is ! He said no, what I ordered was the salmon, and pointed to it on the menu, no it's not she said. pointed out I did hear him, she walked off in a huff and returned some time later with the right order. I asked for poached eggs with the classic - first 2 days, i was told no, it couldn’t be done. I asked for a cappuccino, delivered in a take away cup, "because the one in the kitchen was too hard to use". No-one smiled, ever, for the 5 days. Actually the door guy did, and one girl at breakfast, who didnt seem to speak English, but seemed to try and be nice. I have never ever stayed in such a terrible Westin, with people who clearly do not care. Bar, (temporary) most items not available - attitude sucked. If you charged half price during the renovations, maybe, but you do not. Not good enough. this should not be acceptable.

Oh, still have not received an electronic copy of my bill – asked 3 times.

The staff at this hotel is amazing. Thanks Rita, Mary and Gihon for making our first trip to Boston a great experience. Be prepared for renovations, parking and internet fees, but the commute to city was so manageable from this location. Many mornings we just drove the streets to avoid the traffic. Rooms are comfortable and you can enroll in the Go Green option with housekeeping. Would definitely stay here again.

Green Features: Go Green option for housekeeping was great. You can choose to skip a day of housekeeping in exchange for a gift card which can be used at the Starbucks in the lobby or redeemed for SPG points at the end of your stay.

Love this hotel, but they are renovating the restaurant and bar and boy is the hotel a mess. The problem is, they don't tell you when you make the reservation. The hotel expects to have the renovations completed by October, but best to avoid it until then

We have stayed at the Westin Waltham several times over the past several years when we visit our son and his family who live in this area northwest of Boston. We have had mostly good experiences, found the staff friendly and helpful, the rooms adequately-sized and like that we can rent a car directly at the hotel. The hotel is under renovation at present, so visitors up through September of 2014 should ask to be located away from the wing where the construction noise can be heard. We did this and were not bothered at all. The only sour note came when we checked out very early on a Monday morning to catch an early flight. The desk attendant was somewhat surly, and we had to speak to a rather unfriendly night manager to get honor bar charges removed from our bill. Apparently, if you even put pressure on the items in the refrigerator - let alone move them, the system records that as a sale and you are charged. This is not clearly marked or explained, which it should have been.

Dear Clare K,
Thank you for your detailed review and constructive feedback. It was nice to read that you enjoyed our hotel and services and the convenience of having an Avis Rental Car office on-site. It’s a very exciting time for us at the Westin Waltham, since we are finishing up a multi-million dollar renovation of our entire property. It was good to hear that the renovation did not disturb you. We do our very best to minimize any disruption to our guests during this project. Please accept my sincere apologies that you encountered unfriendly service during your check-out from the hotel. I have addressed this with the front desk management and trust that this will not happen again in the future. We all look forward to welcoming you back soon!
