“Nice upscale hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

First time we stayed here even though we had visited several times (they had a good promotion)

I like this hotel, the lobby is very open and it has multi-level windows which makes it bright and gives a more upscale feel

We really did not have time to use the amenities as we were very busy, but the room was very comfortable and the service was fine

I did notice a little wear on the hotel, as I know the area hotels are highly occupied - hopefully they will address that in their regular maintenance/upgrade program

Stayed October 2012, traveled with family

“Ripoff charges; staff confused”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

I share the same with the others on 'extra' charges. In my case, I came by shuttle, but found selfparking charges [$15/day] on my folio, which is nonsense. When i checked in, while with a group on a master account, they booked me at $199 for one day on my card even though I was reserved for 3 days! I phone in my Starwood number days ahead but the front desk couldn't find it/me and I had to bring it down later. Of course I couldn't get into my room the next day and the magnetic cards [good i took two] didn't work very well with a desk agent finally coming up w/me to get me in. Finally they squared away how my room was to be billed, but the front desk had to ask a manager in order to do that. And as to other charges, etc., I was told internet was $9.95/day by Service Express everywhere in the hotel. Later the desk clerk told me the secret that the Lobby is free [but alas for only 2 hours]. They give you a password that you can use in your room, but going to the lobby every two hours [with the weakest signal] is not worth the trouble at times? Overall, the place is a joke: a multitude of polite staff who are not always consistent; bargain rates on the weekend with hidden/sneaky costs to up the bill. Room furniture is aging to say the least, although the place 'looks' like luxury. Food/meeting room services are a ripoff as well. I wouldn't stay here again unless there was no choice as many good hotels are very nearby, such as Courtyard, etc.

“Great experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

The hotel is just about to start a renovation from the bottom up which I will say in necessary. The guest rooms are tired, but certainly decent with great beds and pillows.

My review is largely about the service my husband (who was "as sick as a dog"during our stay) received, the staff knew my husband was ill and took amazing care of us, the hotel manager brought up NyQuil for him, while I was out they checked on him. They even sent up chowder (which I heard was pretty good). The hotel staff always greeted me by name and always asked how my husband was. They were simply wonderful, even on Christmas night.
We received calls and notes from the staff members checking on us and offering help in any way they could. . While they notes are probably sent to many guests by order of the boss who does that anymore. Come on. If that doesn't give you hope that good service is out there than I don't know what does.

I will chose to stay at this Westin Waltham whoever I need accommodations in that area. When the reno is done it will be that much more pleasant.

Kudos to the Westin Waltham and a big thanks!

“Wow!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

This is a great hotel. The service is excellent, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The rooms are clean and well appointed. There is also a friendly and very professional AVIS car service available. I will continue to stay at this hotel whenever I visit the Waltham area.

“Watch out for extras vol. 2”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

I echo an earlier review warning to watch out for extra charges for various things. The hotel is fine and our rate for a stay at Christmas was very good, but it appears Westin has learned from airlines that it pays to charge for what used to be free or at least it is in many similar hotels. $15 a night for parking, $7.95 a day for wireless in the room and $7.95 for 15 minutes of Internet access Iin the lobby PLUS 79 cents a page for printing!

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. While the hotel does charge for parking and internet these charges are included in some of our room rate packages. Additionally, we offer free wireless internet in the hotel lobby and in our restaurant/lounge. We hope that you will find this information helpful and look forward to welcoming you back the next time you find yourself in the Boston area.
