I recently visited Stoughton,MA and was surprised how many fun things there were to do there. First stop was the huge IKEA store.
It reminded me of an attraction you'd find in Orlando. It was as nice as that. Even the entrance of the store with the fancy escalator was impressive. When you get into the store you want to sit in every comfy chair they have. It's very modern and cool decor at IKEA.
They have a very nice, design-oriented cafe section that serves Swedish foods like meatballs, salmon and cheesecake!
You could spend most of the day there if you wanted to. I actually saw a family with a video camera taping their experience in the store.
People really view Ikea as a destination-like a vacation destination. It's a retail furniture and accessories store with very reasonable pricing. I want to go back there again-if only I had an apartment to decorate.
Another nice feature in Stoughton is the brand new McDonalds on Washington St. It looks like an upscale version of McDonalds. It's clean, and it looks like an interior decorator did the insides with muted yellow, gray and beige tones. It was very pleasant to sit and watch a giant screen television in the sound proof area of the restaurant. They even had an area where there were two computers with internet access for customers! I'm going back there too. Lastly,
on the Stoughton/Randolph town line there is a fantastic 16 screen movie theater-the Showcase Theatres. Again, when you walk in you feel like you've walked into an Orlando attraction. You don't feel like you're in a small town. The staff at the theater were very nice and friendly and helpful. The theater has an elevator, a large food court that serves pizza, chicken and fried dough and my favorite-soft salt pretzels. Oh and an ice cream counter as well!
If you go to the theater on a weekday, you can buy one ticket for one movie but then you can go and watch as many movies as are playing after that. This was a very nice movie theater, clean and looked relatively new. Restrooms were decent too. I'll definitely be going back.
Highly recommended: The Walgreens store,
Shaws Market, Stoughton Music School, Gentle Dental, Valero gas station, Mass Tire, Forth of July Fireworks and parade, Winter Parade in December(Clydesdale horses!)
Stoughton even though it's a small town was action packed with good things to do. There's probably more I hadn't discovered there yet.
