“Would have been perfect without the noise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2007

The Inn at Stockbridge is a wonderful place,,,,,,, the grounds, the proximity to Stockbridge and some fabulous restaurants in Lenox and Lee (Chez Nous!), the innkeepers, the wine and cheese at 5pm, the great breakfasts, our room (Madame Buttlerfly) but I wished my husband and I had known about the noise from the Mass Pike.

As other reviewers pointed out we found it difficult to sit out on the porch or enjoy the grounds. There were plenty of people who seemed fine with it and enjoyed their wine sitting on the porch but my husband and I had come up from NYC (without our 2 yr old) and really wanted some peace and quiet and it was not a cheap weekend away. Maybe the windows could be changed!

The inn was very nice and clean, with a nice porch and sitting areas. Our room (South Corner) had a king size bed and was tastefully decorated. Very small TV/VCR and small shower but otherwise fine. Free internet and daily wine and cheese were a plus, as were the help yourself cookies and tea selection. Great location and easy to get to. Good buffet breakfast. The only main downside was the cost. For the price (with tax and mandatory tip over $325/night) we were expecting a little more personal service; this was run more as a business with hired help, did not feel like a guest in someone's home like other B &Bs we've been to. Also, when I made the reservation I told them it was my wife's 30th birthday. It would have been nice if they left a note in the room, even a "happy birthday" greeting when we checked in would have been great, but there was nothing. Overall, a very nice inn that I would recommend but unlikely return to.

This was one of many high points on our trip to New York, Boston and New England. A wonderful location in the heart of Norman Rockwell country. A good welcome, wonderful room and fantastic breakfasts. The Nearby Rockwell Museum is a real treat.

Unknown to us prior to our stay was that the Mass Pike runs adjacent to the Inn. There is simply too much noise to relax and "get away from it all". You cannot walk the grounds or enjoy a drink on the porch without the noise of the Pike. Housekeeping in our bedroom was also a disappointment -- dusty table tops and baseboards, peeling wallpaper and stains on the carpets. All for $300 a night.

The innkeepers were very nice and helpful in recommending restaurants, but you can't get away from the sounds of 18 wheelers rolling down the thruway. Bedroom windows must be kept closed at night due to the noise.

We regret that this guest felt that the noise detracted from her stay. The inn is on 12 acres in a secluded setting which creates a wonderful environment. We can not help that there is some noise from surrounding traffic.

We have a constant return guests who love it here.

I had a wonderful experience at the Inn at Stockbridge in late August of this summer. The innkeepers were friendly and informative. The staff was very professional. Mia is my favorite "staff member."

The breakfasts were delicious!! Sitting on the porch, while eating breakfast, chatting with the innkeepers and the other guests was a great way to meet new people and enjoy breakfast.

The location was very conveinient to all of the local attractions. The rooms were tastfully decorated, comfortable and very clean!

Overall, I would highly recommend the Inn at Stockbridge to my fellow travelers!!

Lovely in all respects except an immutable problem: the MassPike is so close that you can play a constant ID game in your head: car-truck-truck-motorcycle-car... For the very high price of this inn, one expects serenity, and it just can't be had here, no matter how wonderful the furnishings, and gracious the hosts.

We stayed at the Inn at Stockbridge for a relaxing, comfortable getaway. The Inn is very clean and maintained well. The breakfasts are buffet style and plentiful. We had Vanilla French Toast and Eggs Florentine as special entrees as well as continental breakfast items. We enjoyed the heated inground pool-lovely. I recommend staying in the Main Inn if possible. We stayed in both the Inn for 2 nights and the St. Andrews Suite for one night. The suites were very noisy(you can hear the adjacent rooms and highway traffic in addition to outside lights staying on through the night). I recommend the Stockbridge area for couples who enjoy museums, classical music and the performing arts. Buy your tickets online in advance and make restaurant reservations in advance during peak times. We would choose the Inn at Stockbridge again. We also recommend the Red Lion Inn and the Gateways Inn as alternate options or for dinners.
