“Studio closed this year”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Daniel Chester French's studio was the thing I was most interested in seeing - no one warned us that the studio was closed when buying a 3 museum pass so we arrived only to be disappointed. The grounds are nice, but without access to the studio, it was a let down.

“Contemplative”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

What a nice little museum, nestled in the countryside with a lovely woods walk and a small but lovely garden. We enjoyed not being "cheek-to-jowl" with other visitors.

“Person ( man) in charge at admissions lacks people skills.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

The man in charge at admissions was extremely rude when we asked if it was allowed to take a small dog in the walk through the woods. A friendly no would have gone a long way but his co descending attitude really soured the experience. Glad there are many more historic sites in this area that enjoy a friendlier staff. We did not even take the dog out of car yet, we only inquired about it.

“Berkshire Highlight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

My family visited Chesterwood and participated in the guided tour. Our experience was educational, entertaining and such an enriching experience. We would have paid double the small price of the tickets to learn more about this amazing artist from such an educated and articulate hostess! Our children (11 & 14) were totally engaged, agreeing that Chesterwood was the highlight of the trip!

“Sculpture Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

French was a great sculptor and he is artist of the Lincoln Memorial in DC. The grounds of his estate are beautiful. They have concerts there on Fridays at 5:30 , usually blue grass, Americana....refreshments and local beer are available. A bargain at $20 a carload. French's studio is undergoing a complete renovation and is inaccessible until next year(2014) but everything else is open. Great place to visit.
