“Pre New Year's Celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

My wife and I decided to head to the Berkshires during the 2011 Holiday Week. We found Conroys on the Internet and took our chances. We made a great choice. Though there was no snow, the quiet off-season made no difference at Conroy's. Our room in the main Inn was just wonderful, fireplace and all! Joanne was an attentive host and her breakfast was superb. Great conversation with her and other guests - an overall relaxing experience - just what we were looking for.

Conroy's, in Stockbridge MA is a wonderful place at which to stay. (This was our second time at Conroy's, as we had also stayed there in 1999. Amid having so many guests during those 12 years, our hostess, Joanne, remembered us and even made muffins from a recipe I'd given her the first time we were there.) Our accommodations were lovely; and the breakfasts were delicious and healthy. Our hosts were most gracious in honoring our dietary restrictions. Joanne is very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable, and her husband, Jim, is very personable, as well. As a hostess, Joanne does much more than one might anticipate, making this a superlative retreat in a charming small town.

Room Tip: Rooms in the barn may seem slightly quieter.

We spent 2 weeks in the New England states in June & booked all our accommodation (mostly B&Bs) via the internet relying on Tripadvisor for help. Conroys was the only B&B which was a disappointment to us. Luckily we had only booked the 1 night.
A note on arrival gave directions to our rooms in the barn which were shabbily furnished. We couldn't read in bed as all the lamps had missing or non functioning light bulbs.
There were various disused vehicles parked in the garden.
Breakfast was served hastily as Joanne had an appointment.
We felt as though we were intruding even though their prices were equivalent to other A grade B&Bs in the New England area.
However, we would highly recommend the restaurant at the hotel in Stockbridge (? Red Lion). Great food & friendly staff. They also have accommodation.
The Norman Rockwell Museum in the area is well worth a visit.

Our stay at Conroy's explains why vacation travelers choose a B&B. Joanne made us feel at home for the whole week we stayed there. She communicated to all her guests that she would not be happy unless we were happy. Each morning she would introduce the guests to one another and explain what they might have in common. With all the great offerings in the Berkshires, from dining to hiking to concerts, these discussions were always lively and informative. Her hospitality is the gold standard for vacation enjoyment.

Enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay at Conroys. We had rooms in the barn which were decorated nicely, spacious and comfortable and both had decks which unfortunately we couldn't use because of the rubbish weather. A little bit noisy because of the proximity of the Interstate but not unbearable.
The downside to being in the barn was that when we went for breakfast or to get a hot drink we had to put on coats and umbrellas. Might have been nice to have tea / coffee facilities in the barn, though there was a big fridge that we could keep cold drinks in. Though this is the fault of the weather not the Inn.

Joanne the innkeeper was very friendly and we chatted with her about a lot of things from the attractions of the local area to the state of the global economy!
The one real down side about the Inn is that it is not really close to anything, so we couldn't walk to a local restaurant or wander round local shops. We were doing a lot of driving on our trip so appreciated staying in places where we could simply park the car for a couple of days and wander round. But this is really only a small point.

On the whole the stay was very comfortable and relaxed and Joanne was very friendly and made great baked goods for breakfast.
Would recommend this Inn to friends and family.

Cannot recommend this B&B highly enough! Joanne and James B were fantastic hosts. They were kind and welcoming, providing great suggestions for walking and driving tours. Always up early to prepare a breakfast of fantastic variety! . Very architecturally-different buildings with nice breakfast room and terraced gardens and pool area. Cleanliness of rooms would be a "10" too! From the moment I arrived to the time I left, I felt pampered and at ease and did not want to leave.
