“A nostalgic trip to the simpler days”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Rockwell was an extremely fine artist and illustrator whose works are American icons. This museum is a testimony not only to the artist's creativity, but to his hard work and to the values he sought and succeeded in promoting. Inspiring. Gallery tours are well worth the time. His iconic painting of Stockbridge at Christmas is reenaced annually at the beginning of December, for those who want to visit then.

“Well worth visiting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

If you enjoy art and beautiful grounds, take the time to visit. We enjoyed listening to the guided tour. Our guide was very informed and shared many interesting facts pertaining to Norman Rockwell ... his life and art.

“Kinda like a church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

There is nowhere else on earth that you can see so many original Norman Rockwell paintings. Main Street Stockbridge is my favorite and it is alot bigger than you think it is. Great place!

“Impressive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Having grown up in a household where there was always a Saturday Evening Post with a Rockwell on the cover, I came to the Museum with fairly set expectations: a display of artwork that was fairly innocuous and non-threatening. Surprise! I did not know that in his heart Norman Rockwell was an activist with fairly liberal views, most of which didn't appear until later in his career. So yes, you will see all the traditional family-oriented homecoming and Thanksgiving paintings, but you will see as well his take on civil rights and freedom of expression.
The Museum is spotless, well-lit and spotlessly clean, and the grounds are part of a very peaceful landscape.
All in all a very pleasant and instructive experience.

“Worth a trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

The museum is in a beautiful setting and the artwork was nicely displayed. I was not a huge fan of his work before we went but once seeing some of his paintings came away with a new appreciation for his work.
