I made the mistake of ordering a beer with our to-go order. After we paid, we tried to stop the hostess from opening the beer as we wanted to take it home to have with our to-go seafood dinner. She insisted that she HAD to open it, never mentioning that I would need to consume the beer onsite before we left. It was only when we tried to leave with the order that we were told we would have to drink the beer. When we complained to the manager that we should have been told that we wouldn't be able to transport an unopened bottle of beer when we placed our to-go order, he became defensive and argumentative and insisted that we should have known that.(If we had bought a beer at the nearby liquor store we could have driven home with it--hence our confusion.) Well this senior, 60 yrs + couple, who rarely drinks alcohol outside of our home, did not!! We left the open beer, as I was unable to drink it fast enough while our to-go order got cold. While we like to stop here for a seafood meal that fits our retirement budget, the negative treatment by the manager has made us reluctant to return.
