“One of the HOTTEST little bistros in western MA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

Food 101 is located in the Commons of South Hadley by Mt. Holyoke College. Its a restaurant with a small bar area including a outdoor patio in the summer. Its a place where the bar tenders Will know your name the first time you are there. Every dish is hand prepped from scratch, by a meticulous owner. If you want a sniffer of Louis xiii Cognac, its there. Rare imported extravagant bottled beers. Domestics on tap. Staff is hand selected and are there to perform. By far my favorite restaurant in western ma. This place sets the bar. Prepare to spend 120 for a full course dinner, drinks and tip. I have NEVER had a bad meal there in five years.

“Upscale dining in South Hadley Commons”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Our group of four had a delicious dinner paired with a fine wine from their expansive wine list. Located in the center of a unique shopping center by Mt. Holyoke College, the venue is perfect for an after shopping or before movie dining experience.

“Faked the risotto”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Went for dinner, ordered the scallops on a cauliflower risotto. When the dish arrived the scallops were sitting on a bed of white rice loaded with butter and cream sauce meant to fool someone into thinking that the rice was actually risotto. Asked the waitress about the obvious and was assured that it was actually risotto not just white rice that had been creamed.
The lie sealed the deal....we won't ever go back.

“Touch of class in sleepy little S. Hadley!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Had to chance to dine at Food 101 last night with my mother and sister and we had a marvelous meal, were served by a lovely waitstaff (Beth), in a comfortable setting. There was nothing on the menu that was not delicious... we started with appetizers of wild mushroom raviolis (in a shallot cream) and of pommes frites (with homemade ketchup and wasabi mayo - yum!)... I had an arugula salad with crispy fresh pears and gorgonzola - excellent, then we enjoyed a succulent pork chop with a red-skinned potato side which was wonderful and a grilled salmon over asparagus and a lobster risotto that was just delicious! We finished the meal with a splendid creme brulee and a raspberry and cookie crumb mousse - both done perfectly! We would not hesitate to return to Food 101 - our experience was so yummily memorable

“it seems over-rated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

this was a very nice meal, but had the bolognese, and it was NOT to
die for , as one reviewer commented. Another reviewer said this is a
5 star place. There are very few restaurants throughout the
country that rate a Mobil 5 star. This certainly is not that. We
ate here based on the reviews, and feel it is over - rated. While the meal
is very good, it is not outstanding. It might be the best place in S. Hadley, but
certainly is not better than most excellent restaurants. The setting is very
pleasant and the service was excellent. Also, it is quite over-priced for
where it is and what it is
