“Still good, but the A/C was weird”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Stayed here last weekend on a Saturday night. Prime season, at $125 rate, but not surprising. Rates at other times are lower. Check-in very smooth and easy - maybe 5 minutes. Pets stay free and they are very accommodating, with a very reasonable pet policy. Had a really nice dip in the pool. Lobby coffee is terrible. The only other food is vending machines near the pool area. Landscaping is very nice, with a picnic table in a grassy, shaded garden. Very nice area to walk dogs - and they provide pickup bags! How thoughtful.

However, on this hot, humid weekend, the hallway outside our room (#163) was freezing cold. Our room was very cold, too, so we shut the A/C unit off and went out for the evening. When we got back, it was still cold! Told the front desk, but they couldn't turn down the A/C and we were offered extra blankets. Temperatures outside during the day were in the 90s. I think they need to get control over the A/C in some areas.

All other aspects of the stay were excellent, so I'm sticking with "very good." There is one other thing - this motel is next to Yankee Candle and in a prime visiting area, and it's starting to look just a little bit well-used around the edges. Still, I would stay here again. Staff is very friendly and efficient.

Here for two weeks for family emergency leading to a funeral. First two nights we had no control of air conditioning except on and off. It was so cold we tried to turn on the heat however that did not work. All clothes in the room were noticeably damp from lack of humidity control. After two nights freezing in the room we asked to be moved. Next room had a digitally controlled AC unit and seemed to work much better. On day 7 after being out all day, we returned to find our room had been left unlocked by the housekeeper, the temperature set at 63 degrees and room was not completely serviced. Complained loudly to front desk and was basically told they would check into it. We lacked confidence in housekeeping so left a note on the bed to Lock the Door. Never got any feedback. On day ten, we returned to find bed linens had not been changed, no bathmat, no new soap, and no daily bottles of water. Our prior experience here never came close to having the issues we had this time. Staff training and attention to detail is lacking. When we check out in a few days, we are not likely stay here again nor recommend this motel to family or friends. They have not earned our business.

This property is perfect for what it is: quality accommodations at a reasonable price. The room (Superior King) was comfortable, spacious and well kept. Recent renovations that are mentioned in other reviews were very clear. The work area was perfect for my needs, with space for a laptop and to spread out papers while I was working. Wireless internet access was superb.

We stayed here over the weekend of my sons lacrosse games and it was very clean and the staff was super friendly. The lady at the front desk... Stacie I believe her name was, she was very professional and friendly. Great location right next to the highway and close to UMASS. Would recommend this to friends and family.

Don't judge the book by it's cover..In all honesty we pulled in and thought we were in trouble.. The hotel has recently been remodeled inside..The staff was great.. We were with a large group of HS Boys for a tournament and no stick rules like I have experienced in the past..

If this motel wasn't adjacent to Yankee Candle (which my wife and I didn't even visit), I don't think they could get away with what they offer. The outside doesn't look like much. But the rooms have obviously been updated. No complaint about the room itself. The woman at the front desk was also cheerful and efficient. But the large parking lot is full of potholes. When I inquired about breakfast, I learned that there is none, but there is free coffee in the lobby. The lobby turned out to be about a football field's length away from our room. There is no coffeemaker in the room. My wife and I are seniors on a long cross-country trip. So we were not packing light. We did not appreciate having to lug 2 heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs to our second floor room. So although the room itself and front desk help were fine, I would rate this Red Roof Inn no better than average for its lack of breakfast, coffeemaker in the room and elevator.

I was weary given that other Red Roof Inns are not as good, but this is a very modern, clean hotel. The room was pretty big. It's pretty much right off the highway and right next to Yankee Candle. I'd stay here again if I'm in the area.

Room Tip: There is no elevator so if that's an issue choose a room on the first floor.
