I've been eating Fay's pizza for almost half a century, believe it or not. From its' original location in the north end of New Bedford and now its' only location in South Dartmouth, the recipe for their great pizza hasn't missed a beat.
On a recent visit, a friend and I decided to skip the usually excellent bread basket and split a plain pizza, along with our dinners. He had fish and chips, and the usually excellent fried seafood at Fay's did not disappoint. I had the meatloaf special, since I generally can't resist meatloaf specials anywhere, and it was good, but not great. In an Italian restaurant you have to stick to their specialties, and I've greatly enjoyed their eggplant and veal Parmesan, lasagna, and meatball subs. Perhaps strangely they also have my favorite chowder, with perfect flavor, not to thin, and not too thick (I can't stand flour-laden chowders!).
For dessert we enjoyed very good coffee and I ordered an excellent cannoli that featured fresh raspberries and whipped cream. I wisely brought half of it home to my wife who was also very pleased with it. My friend made a great looking molten lava cake largely disappear, so there were no complaints on his end either.
The bill was reasonable at about $40 each, which included two meals, the pizza, a meatball sub to go, two desserts, two glasses of wine, and two coffees. There's a reason we keep going back to Fay's, time after time.
