“An hotel ruled by the staff... by obscenity... by a lack of hygiene... and by a lack of organization...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2011

It is unfortunate this hotel is ruled by the "staff" ,especially on the week end without the supervision of a general manager or an assistant general manager and that some employees of the front desk consider the hotel as brothel... , that they "sleep" with the customers behind the general manager's back who wants to omit to pay attention to that or wants to disregard. Some front desk people closed their eyes about the obscene behavior of other members of the front desk.

How can the general manager omit there are certain irregularities in some rooms which are used as places where some staff of the front desk get drunk or where they sleep with one another? It is unbelievable that the hotel is not monitored nights and days by a general manager. The customers should not bear the consequences of those events. It brings a bad reputation to this hotel...

It is also unbelievable that some staff of the front desk leave their post to take the place of the drivers to get some extra money instead of the real drivers...

Furthermore, the parking around the hotel looks like a dumpster with plastic bags and everything flying over the cars...

As for the business center, the computer is always broken and never fixed up...

And last about the breakfast, despite its mediocrity, there is a lack of hygiene with the fact that utensils are not properly wrapped with plastic and are touched by everybody.... Please do not forget that the hotel is associated with MGH where a lot of sick people and their families go over there during their treatments...

Poor customer service - uncaring attitudes at the front desk, uncomfortable breakfast area, dirty carpets and elevator. Barely adequate towels and bathroom amenities. Old TV. Good location, though.

I stayed at this hotel with a friend in July. The room was your typical hotel room and it was very clean. Although there was a shuttle to the train station, my friend and I chose to walk to the station. It isn't a short walk, but safe. The woman that worked at the front desk was extremely helpful on helping us get to Boston and Salem. She even recomended a great pizza place nearby. If you don't mind being a bit out of the city, for much less $$ per night, this is your hotel.

We all know how expensive Boston area can be but this hotel is very reasonably priced when you use your AAA discount. The location is so close to Cambridge and Logan Airport. The room is large and super clean, with free Internet connection. Free breakfast and free parking. It takes about 15 min to drive to Harvard Square or airport. There is a Ninety-nine restaurant across the hotel, a Caribbean restaurant as well as a Dunkin Donats near by.
Make sure to use a GPS when you drive if you are not familiar with the area. It is complicated.
Suggestion to the hotel: Clean the lobby bathroom! It was so smelly and disgusting!

My friend and I went to visit my sister in Boston and stayed in this hotel. The hotel is really close to the airport and they have a shuttle to take you to the airport or to the subway (which is walking distance) Even though is close to the highway, our room was very quiet. The room itself was spacious and we could accomodate everything. It was very clean and comfy. The staff was really nice as well giving us directions.

If you don't smoke, ask for a non-smoking room, since the smoking floors are very smelly all the way to the elevator. The business center has 1 computer with a printer. Breakfast was continental breakfast and you could make your own waffles. Breakfast area is small and some tables wobble. The AC unit took a while to cool down the room but when it did, it got really cold.

La Quinta

Introduction:
We stayed at a La Quinta Inn in Somerville, Massachusetts from July 28 -August 11, 2010, for 2 weeks. The following are some of our comments regarding our stay:

The woman who cleaned our room could not understand or speak little English so we had to communicate with her by sign language.

Since we were going to stay for 2 weeks, I think that they did not assign us one of their better rooms. Our room was small and irregularly shaped.

Bedding:
The maid who originally cleaned our room said that if we want to have our bedding changed that we should put a La Quinta card on the bed and the bedding would be changed. However, that was for our first day. After that, the only time that our bedding was changed was when the maid was in our room and we asked her to change the bedding. Changing bedding every 3 or 4 days is okay but not once in 2 weeks.

When we complained to the front desk they sent a maintenance man with clean bedding to our room. They expected us to change the bedding, not the maid.

Towels:
We are two people staying in the room. Shouldn't there be enough towels in the room for two people? One of the towels that we received had a hole in it the size of my big finger.

Carpet cleaning:
I cannot verify this, but I believe that our room was never vacuumed during our 2-week stay.

Coffee in room:
Having a coffee pot in our room was a nice touch. However, many times we had to go down to the front desk to get coffee packages and cups. We had to clean the coffee pot everyday; the maid never cleaned it.

Breakfast room:
The items offered for breakfast were adequate. However, many times we had to wait to use the toaster behind 5 to 8 people. Sometime the toasters would stop working. Later I found out that the toasters would cause a circuit breaker to blow. If there weren't any staff people around the hotel guests would not be able to use the toasters.
The biggest problem with breakfast was the lack of tables and space to eat. Most times we would see people standing with their food in hand trying to eat.

We stayed here for one day. It was clean and pleasant. The breakfast area could use some new tables. They were very wobbly. We had to hold it up on one side so that my son would not spill his cereal. Staff was nice and accomodating. Would stay here again.
