“A good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We toured Boston in May and chose to stay at a B&B outside of the city. It was a good choice for a much better price. The house is in an older quiet neighborhood, but the decor inside is contemporary. The room and bathroom were immaculate. Very easy to hop on the T-line to Boston. Fun restaurants an easy walk away at Davis Square. If the owners will be away from the property when you arrive, they e-mail directions on how to let yourself in. Help yourself to breakfast layed out in the newly remodeled kitchen and chat with other guests. The owners popped in the back door in the morning and were very friendly and helpful.

The hosts were helpful in getting us directions, and getting in late in the evening.
The room and bathroom were immaculate.
It was quiet despite being a block from Davis Square.
The T stop was very close.
Some more whole grain choices for breakfast would be nice.

I stayed in Boston for 10 days for business purposes. The location is perfect both if you want to move around by car or use the public transport system. The B&B is close to Davis train station and a large variety of restaurants and pubs. Rooms are clean, cozy, and quiet. The owners are very friendly and they helpful. Breakfast is rich. I would totally recommend this B&B.

This was my first visit to Boston and I'm so happy I chose to stay at Bowers House. Easy commute from the airport using the local transit-no rental car needed! Great location to get around the city, easy walk to the subway station, and right off Davis square with tons of places to eat, drink, and purchase traveling amenities if needed.
The B&B was peaceful and I loved having a personal bathroom in my room. The kitchen was open 24 hours for coffee/tea. Breakfast (quality yogurt, fruit, pastries) was available every morning. The owners were pleasant and very helpful before my arrival and during my stay. Just keep in mind for a long stay, there is not much storage and beware having a big, heavy suitcase if you don't like taking a small, windy stair case. I personally don't mind taking stairs.
Great value! I will choose Bowers House for any future visits to Boston.

I booked a week in advance for a queen en-suite room and received a very nice email from the owner stating a bit more detailed information about my stay, what to do if they were not there to receive me, where to park, where the cookies were for my arrival..! I found this a nice touch and when I arrived, there was no problem parking and Christina was there to greet me. I'd never stayed in Davis square so she gave me some excellent advice on things to do and places to eat, as well as directions to the T, which is maybe a 3 minute walk?! I also appreciated the couple of bottles of water kindly laid out for me in my room.

The room was beautiful, a clean, well-laid out bedroom, very comfortable bed, good closet space and a well presented bathroom with a nice powerful shower. It was quiet at night for sleep, no street lights or main street noise even though it's only about 100m from the main street. The breakfast was also varied and delicious - croissants, bagels, fresh fruit, oatmeal etc.

I would not hesitate to book here again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Highly recommend staying here for Somerville or Cambridge. I have not stayed anywhere else in the area but I am not curious about looking since Bowers House B&B provided everything we could need or want. Will def stay here again. Nicely renovated rooms, gracious host, great mattress, cookies left for our late arrival, kitchen/coffee/tea at our disposal any time, including fridge. Great location, right off Davis Sq., near Red line on T. My husband felt a bit cold during the night so Christina promptly turned up the heat and gave us an area heater just in case that was not enough. Breakfast is continental but varied and plentiful, including fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins or croissants. Was enjoyable and relaxing.

We had a very nice stay in this B&B which is conveniently located in a quiet street, near a number of good restaurants just at the end of the street. The B&B is just 5 minute walk from the subway station and 2 km away from Harvard University, so this might be a good solution for enjoying Boston without being in the middle of the city. We had a very large and clean bedroom on the first floor. The kitchen is always open and you can help yourself to yougurts, biscuits, tea and coffee at any time. We will definitely stay at Bowers House again if we will have the chance to go back to Boston again.
