India Cafe has been around for a long time. The location is in a busy strip mall just east of Lake Quinsigamond with the front facing route 9. It's convenient and comfortable once inside and there's plenty of parking. The popular lunch buffet is served from 11Am to 3Pm and the place is always crowded with Indian people, a very good sign. The buffet is limited to about eight or nine dishes from Northern Indian cuisine along with a few Bombay touches and costs only $8.99 on a week day. The spice isn't toned down to suit the American palate. I always enjoy the food here.
On a recent visit, a friend and I enjoyed two chicken dishes, a vegetable korma dish with a bit of fire, excellent naan, raita, a chickpea dish, spinach dish, and eggplant dish. Vegatable pakora were sweet and tender and replaced often! The makings for chaat are available at the salad bar, a nice touch.
The restaurant has recently expanded to a second storefront next door, effectively doubling the dining space. The place includes a lounge at the back with intimate lighting and a banquette area with low tables. The addition is so new that the sign out front hasn't been installed yet.
