It was comforting to be taken in like family to a cozy fire and a comfortable spot even on a crowded Valentine's night. The service was expeditious but relaxed and unhurried. The wine was warming and made the wait for dinner delightful. Fresh oysters from Maine, succulent duck, pan seared sea scallops...everything was cooked to perfection. I was impressed with the conviviality of the staff as well as their efficiency at serving quite a crowd without showing a sign of any stress. The charm and hospitality of an old inn, a friendly, talkative group at the bar, all of this contributes to a special experience in the Berkshires.
