“A cozy place on a cold night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

It was comforting to be taken in like family to a cozy fire and a comfortable spot even on a crowded Valentine's night. The service was expeditious but relaxed and unhurried. The wine was warming and made the wait for dinner delightful. Fresh oysters from Maine, succulent duck, pan seared sea scallops...everything was cooked to perfection. I was impressed with the conviviality of the staff as well as their efficiency at serving quite a crowd without showing a sign of any stress. The charm and hospitality of an old inn, a friendly, talkative group at the bar, all of this contributes to a special experience in the Berkshires.

“charmiing restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Liked everything--excellent,. imaginative food and friendly smooth service. The restaurant is laid out on several different levels, many of them small areas, creating intimacy and a sense of relative privacy. Prices were reasonable, and wine selection quite large and wide-ranging.

“New England charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Good grub with just the right amount of 18th century farmhouse atmosphere. Loved the chickpeas for the table to share while waiting on our burgers which were top notch farm-to-table taste. Those who ordered more upscaled, less tavern-type fare were equally satisfied.

“If staying at Race Brook Lodge this is a great place to have dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I was staying at Race Brook Lodge and had dinner here the first night. I was alone but didn't feel uncomfortable dining along here. I could have had a bit more light so I could read more easily while dining alone. A nice variety of food on the menu - interesting combos and locally harvested foods featured. It was tasty and nicely presented. There was enough, but not so much one felt stuffed at the end. Good service and interesting surroundings in the variety of rooms. I'd enjoy eating here again.
