“Back to nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2014 via mobile

Lots of room between sites. Sites well maintained. Trek to restrooms and showers but very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. They have information about everything at the front gate typed up on easy to grab tags - so smart and convenient! Close to many things but still remote. Can't wait to come back!

“Women in white dress!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

This campground is haunted in the confines of this park. The apparition of a ghostly young woman in a white dress with long hair has been seen several times. I have heard her singing and laughing in the distance and have also heard heavy footsteps around their tents and very clear in women bathroom on area-1 C-sites no further detail information.Don't walk alone in dark!!!!

“Nice open space”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for 3 nights and here is my list of pros and cons:
Pro: Price at 14 bucks a night for out of state residents you can vacation on Cape Cod for a very reasonable price. The sites are spaced out nicely for the most part and with plenty of sites you can be away from your neighbor. The location is great and included in your fee is access to the beach which is about 4 miles away. There is a Stop n Shop and local town which is close by allowing you to get what you need without having to drive all over. Workouts are great the main road has many hills and was great for runs.
Cons: Unlike other campgrounds we have stayed at where you are close to fellow campers, being so spaced out means the facilities are far and if you don't pick the right camp sight you are going to be taking a long walk to the bathroom. Staying in several campgrounds in MD and VA the facilities here were not as clean, but not terrible.
I only gave this 3 stars because I don't know I would ever give a campground more than 4 stars. I plan on staying here again and if your looking for a nice open campground this is the place.

“Fully Surrounded by Nature”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

The Forest is open for camping on one side and hiking on the other. The latter is laid out nicely with 5 different, but intersecting, paths through the woods. None is challenging for walkers but all are interesting. It is nice to be tucked into the natural environment with the world of restaurants, stores, beaches and houses pushed into the background. A full forest of varied trees and plant life throughout. Two major entrances (campground and Heritage Museum) have maps withe directions for all trails. Worth a visit while in Sandwich.

“Nice inexpensive campground”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

I've stayed at Shawme-Crowell many times, most recently on June 1, 2014. It's a nice, quiet campground with good bathroom facilities. A little far from typical Cape Cod destinations, but very close to the Cape Cod Canal for fishing/biking/walking and nearby Sandwich has nice restaurants. The campground store is well stocked if you forgot something at home and Stop & Shop is just a few minutes down the road if you need to resupply.
