“A Family Favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Spud's has been my parents favorite place to eat for years. But then again, my Dad liked their liver and onions... go figure.

Sometimes a good restaurant experience comes from knowing how to order. I read some of the other reviews and have to chuckle. First thing I do in a new restaurant is to ask the staff what their personal favorite meal is or what is the most popular or the place's signature meal or the daily special or the chef's specialty. One of these choices is usually a good bet.

Maybe you really want a good steak. But if any particular place doesn't do steaks very well or the staff won't recommend (and I am not saying Spud's doesn't) - why order a disappointment? Ask the staff - they hear the complaints or accolades every day.

Spud's is an interesting place. No - it is not a 5-star restaurant... few really places are. This is more like a cozy family kitchen. Sure there's a bar for some of us, but the dining room is separated from the bar area for the rest of you. Nothing fancy - just simple and cozy. My parents favored the early-bird specials, but once you get past the stereotypes the food is just fine.

Looking for the 5-star experience - go somewhere else and pay the price. But if you want a good meal at a reasonable price, then Spud's delivers - just ask the staff!

“Excellent meal always!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We love going here after a day of shopping since it is almost always on the way! What luck we are usually there on a Saturday and kids eat free! I am in love with their chicken parm! Just the right balance of crispy chicken sauce and cheese to satisfy! My daughter (age 6) loves the combo for kids of chicken fingers and cheese sticks - just the right amount of food for her! Atmosphere was clean casual dinning. Table wasn't covered in extra junk like drink menus and deserts. Only down side we find is some booths are a little tight on leg room. Besides that always a favorite!

“Lobster in the Summer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Looking for some nice fresh lobster at affordable prices. Here's our secret place for that. Lobster Pie or Lobster Roll -it's your choice. Lobster Pie comes with a fresh, crisp salad and your choice of veggie. I chose mashed squash ( in season also). It was so good we went there a couple days later and my husband ordered it too. He usually orders baked stuffed haddock that he enjoys there but he got the lobster pie too this time. Warm rolls and a nice array of desserts if you have room. Oh, and the bartender knows how to make a nice drink. We prefer to sit in the pub but either is fine. Never had a problem with service. They aim to please.

“Quality in food lacking !!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Steak Tips were terrible, all fat !!
Haddock w/ crab was served in a small tin dish and looked like a weight watchers meal.
Turkey dinner was another joke, it appears like shredded turkey ready for a soup !!
Wine glasses were dirty and the soda cups tasted like ajax.
The restaurant appears tired and the air vents make it so you can hardly breath. ( Need to be cleaned !! )
Our waitress Carol was friendly but a total ditz.
She did try but like the restaurant, she seems tired.
If you do try Spuds, proceed with caution.
Was informed that the Sunday kitchen help are the young kids who fill in for the Chef ( S ) !!!
