“Pretty good food, tourist trap prices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

The food was pretty good, but a little expensive for a road side lobster shack.

“Best Microwaved food on cape ann”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

Visited Lobsrer pool midweek to avoid the crowds. Great views and a lovely location. Noticed lack of "Fresh Fish smell" that you would expect from a real clam shack style of restaurant. Come to find out that nothing is "Freshly cooked to order" as you would expect by paying market price and their location on the water. Noticed boiled lobster and fish specials were served too quickly to be made to order. When I asked about it from the entitled kitchen/counter staff, they said that the all that type of food was prepared ahead of time and re-heated because of their too busy to prepare each order. I guess the lobsters in the tanks were just props for the tourists...unfortunately, the price they charge for reheated seafood was not. If you want traditional shorefood served with pride, go elsewhere.

“freshest seafood on Cape Ann (for a lobster shack)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2011

We have been going to the Lobster Pool for years and we are never disappointed. The seafood is always fresh and delicious. It is a little pricey (and it's cash-only) but it's worth every penny. The lobster roll is ALL meat, no filler. The lazy lobster baked in crumbs is delicious. The onion rings are a little messy, the batter falls right off and the onions are limp--not my favorite type of ring. The atmosphere is extremely casual and the inside stays fairly cool even on the hottest days. Sitting outside is the best but when the sun is out it can get very hot. We like the BYOB policy too--wine in a plastic cup just screams beach vacation.

“There was a gorgeous sunset and the food was so-so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

We arrived @6:45, parked about the equivilant of 3 blocks away (up hill), and never got into the bldg until 7:45 pm. We still didn't mind because it was so busy we figured it was just great food. We finally ordered 2- 1 1/2 lb lobster dinners (coleslaw & FF) and a quart of Steamers. The lobster was ok, the FF were cold, the coleslaw was not that good and the steamers were like rubber and mushy. We spent about $62.00 and stopped at another restaurant on the way back to the hotel. I am giving it a three because it was the nicest sunset we have ever seen. They only have one cash register and they take the order there and give the change and only have the capability of helping one customer at a time. Now the line was up the street and people were drinking bottle after bottle of BYOB so they really didn't mind it too much. I just was very disapointed.
