Color photos are 'colorful' and the site for this 'B&B' shows some brilliant shots of a New England seaside farm converted to a nice inn. And, indeed it is nice... not as brilliant, not as well kept up but really a fine Bed and Breakfast... continental style. Shelly makes a very good quiche and along with fresh fruit and muffins, breakfast was satisfying. We both would've like some good old fashioned 'scrambled eggs' and thick country bacon but Rockport has stingent code for inn keepers and the continental 'license' is easier to obtain and live with. We had a fine room (bed a bit too firm), spacious and breezy, nice kitchenette and overall a very pleasant stay. B&Bs are not for everyone but this really is a well run, maintained and pleasant inn and worth your consideration. We'd go back again.
BTW, Carl seems to be gone and everyone is concerned. He and his dog were wonderful 'fixtures' and missed!

Carl takes good care of the Old Farm Inn and exudes the kind of care and concern that assures his guests' needs are well met.

The recent inclusion of the parlor, den, large kitchen and sun room of the main house as guest common areas is a definite bonus. Carl made sure we had a warm fire in the den, by which we enjoyed conversing with other guests in the evening.

The continental breakfast in the sun room was more generous than any we've had by that name--Carl made a wonderful quiche, and provided fresh fruits, assorted muffins, breads and rolls, along with juices, cereal and warm beverages.

The rooms were comfortable and nicely appointed, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Farm Inn.

Its proximity to Halibut Point and downtown Rockport is a selling point, but the Inn itself, and its careful keeper, Carl, are the reasons we will return soon.

The Old Farm was a charming and welcoming property, starting with a friendly greeting at the door from Dory, the golden retriever. The room was charming and felt like home. The fireplace in the living room was always lit and guests gathered there to share their travel stories.

I can't say enough about Carl the innkeeper. He is the most friendly addition to an already wonderful place. He made the most unbelievable homemade quiche at breakfast (even the crust!) He always had great recommendations for sites, food, and shopping, His neighbors were always popping into his kitchen to say hello and meet the day's visitors. By the time we left we felt like a part of the neighborhood.

  • Liked — I can't choose...the room was great, Carl was fabulous, and the rate was really reasonable
  • Disliked — ummmmm.....Leaving?

Me and My wife just returned from one of the most charming little seaside resorts. Upon arrival we where greeted with the most charming staff and the family's mascot Dory. Are inn keeper was on top of every detail, down to are surprise birthday cake for my wife. We stayed in a very spacious room overlooking the sprawling manicured lawn. Carl the innkeeper was quick to recommend places to eat for lunches and dinners but nothing compared to the breakfast treats he whipped up for us every morning of are stay. The continental breakfast is not what you would expect fresh fruits, pastries and quiche you name it! it was on are table. We loved just relaxing on the back deck watching the sunsets every night chatting with the other guests. From the comments in the lobby guest book we are not alone in highly recommending the Old Farm Inn for anyone's vacation spot. They know how to make you feel like your a king and queen in their home.
