“NEVER EVER AGAIN”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

I am not one to be quick to write a review about a particular place, but our experience at this place was exceptional. Exceptionally bad. Our family (two adults and three children) stayed at this Inn for a family function. We will NEVER EVER stay there again. First, we not only had to pay half the amount of our stay upon booking (which is understandable because of the high tourism in the area) but we were forced to pay the balance upon check in not even having seen our room! This pretty much secured their payment, regardless of how we found the quality of the room to be. Although the rooms were small, but the main building where some other family members stayed was pretty decent and seemed to have been recently renovated and was much cleaner. Our room and other members' attending this event on the other hand was across the parking lot from the main building in this "other building" where the front had what our kids called "weeds" that were about a foot tall. The building looked absolutely abandoned from the outside. We pulled a heavy rusted metal door that brought us to a filthy, run-down, stained old carpet, old-painted hallway with a series lined-up rooms. We opened the door to our room with double beds, nook in the corner that would serve as the closet (with no door or light) and a big stain on the carpet in the middle of the room. When booking the room, I was told that we would have an ocean view with a "private" balcony. We DID have the ocean view, BUT when we opened the back door to what was supposed to be a private balcony, there sat a couple from the room next door on some patio chairs two feet away from our door!!! There was no "private" balcony, but a common area with lounge chairs where everyone in that building sat facing the ocean. When I pulled down the covers to examine the beds, the sheets had holes in them!!! I truly wish I were exaggerating here. The bathroom was outrageously outdated. The plumbing horrible as the toilet AND the bath tub got clogged on the same day! The screen on the window in the bathroom was dusty and looked like it had not been cleaned in ages. The free breakfast was ok with the waffle station and assorted cereals. The bread was extremely stale and the cut up fruits did not taste fresh. Since it was "free" I guess I can't complain too much. The ONE thing this place has going for them is that most of the staff was extremely pleasant. We were in no way shape or form expecting a luxurious inn, however for the price we paid during this season and based on prior reviews we read, it was our absolute expectation to have a decent updated clean place to stay. We checked out first thing as soon as the family festivities ended and went elsewhere for breakfast.

Room Tip: When booking a room be sure to ask for one that is in the main building which may be cleaner

My husband & I have stayed at the Inn a number of times, this year we are celebrating our 10year wedding anniversary and decided to stay at the Inn where we were married. We stayed at the waterview inn room and you can't beat the view, some updates were done but really how much time do you spend in the room during the summer??

I had a great experience at the Provincetown Inn. We stayed 3 nights over a recent weekend to attend a wedding there. My husband and I and our grown son stayed in a Cape Tip room. It was clean , comfortable and nicely decorated. I popped in and out of several rooms around the Inn- all were very nice and seemed to be freshly renovated. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathrooms are small but we weren't there to spend time in the bathroom. It was up to date and clean, that's all we look for. If my husband could turn around in it, it's fine for most people. The lobby area is very interesting with it's wood panelling and murals of old time P-Town.This Inn is worth trying for the location alone! Water and beach everywhere you look. We took a couple of long walks into this interesting town, where the Portuguese Festival was going on. The tent wedding was enchanting- the food and service were very good, and it looked so pretty as the sun was setting and the lanterns were lit. Finally, the breakfast spread is substantial, the coffee (which I'm very particular about) good, and the view is, well, the same view already mentioned. I don't know about the bad reviews here- bad smell, lousy service etc- were we at the same place? It isn't the Ritz-Carlton, and I'm glad it isn't. When I go visit a new , interesting area, I like to stay at a place unique to that place, not a brand name hotel.

Even with the current remodeling, this place is dirty and outdated and very, very expensive / over priced. The bathrooms are tiny and can be barely used by an average sized person, so beware if you have a few extra pounds on your frame. We made reservations well in advance and did not get the room we asked for. We waited for almost 30 minutes for the front desk person to run around the facility looking for the manager. The front desk staff is the height of rude and discourteous whether you talk to them face to face or contact them on the phone.
We were there in April and the on premises restaurnant was closed and all we heard was the banging of the construction crew.

Just came for a night stay with my mother and we were stunned by how welcoming the staff were to us at check in. They let us check in very early witch was great because of our short stay. we had lunch at the pool witch was very tasty. We normally stay in August but missed the last 3 years so it was great to see all the little changes but still the great unbeatable price. And have arrangements for August with the whole family and can not wait.

Room Tip: Cant beat a water view

This takes you back to kind of the Mad Men time! The Inn was very clean. Our room was exactly as advertised. It is at the far west end which make things quieter but you do have to walk a bit to get up to the action which was no problem for my wife an I. Would stay there again when we come back

Room Tip: We had the ocean view. 2nd floor which overlooked the pool, the beach and bay.

Sorry to say, this place is really bad. Damp, musty, old rooms, old beds, deserted old unused rooms in the main lobby. The pool area is very nice, the views are very pretty. The hotel is at the west end of Commercial St, so it's off the beaten path, and quiet. If you're just looking for a place to crash, and if you don't care about not feeling pampered in any way whatsoever, and you're just looking for a nice pool in good location, this could work for you.

Room Tip: All rooms are extremely dated and musty, if you want a good view, ask for breakwater or cape-tip roo...
