We stayed at the Carriage House Inn early August and we felt so much at home that we ended up staying 2 extra days. Our room, on the second floor, was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was super fresh and the set up of the pretty kitchen illuminated our faces every morning. All the clients had smiling faces, which made us want to talk with all of them and become friends, which we did with a couple of them. The 2 hosts were very genuine, caring and professional. Overall, a amazing stay. We’ll be back!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Carriage House with another couple and there were good things and bad things. We mainly chose the Carriage House because of the many positive reviews on Trip Advisor .

At first glance the B&B is quite lovely. As many have reported, the main house is very nice and the inner courtyard with hot tub and sauna are great spaces to hang out or go for a soak. We used the hot tub both days and it was very clean and well kept. At dusk, the whole courtyard is illuminated with sparkling lanterns and candles. Angus and Ken are very nice and helped us book restaurants and also drove us to the ferry, since it was raining the day we left. I really appreciate this kind of personal service when traveling. They really made us feel at home.

We were in rooms 4 and 5, which are ground level and have great back patio areas with loungers and tables and chairs, a very nice touch. The rooms are nicely decorated and have attractive furnishings. However, the rugs in both of our rooms were absolutely disgusting! At first I thought it was just ours, but then our friends showed us their room and the rug was equally stained and dirty.

When I say stained, I'm talking 2- 3 large stains approx 3-4 feet in diameter directly in front of the door to the bathroom and the door to outside. The rugs were generally gray with dirt in this area as well. It just did not seem to fit the rest of the room/inn? Everything else was so nice and clean. Additionally, both of our showers had mold. Ours wasn't as bad, as most of it was contained to around the slider track of the shower door, but the thick black mold was covering the whole track. I was tempted to go buy some bleach and clean it myself. Our friends' shower also had mold in the shower door as well as all up along the wall where the top of the shower stall meets the wall. Honestly, if the rugs had not been so gross, I probably would not have even mentioned the shower mold.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Carriage House. I guess I just thought that for $215 a night in the shoulder season (during last weekend in September) staying at an inn off of the main strip on Commercial St, that this place was going to be superb. I just find it hard to believe that someone could look at the state of the rugs in the rooms and think that this was acceptable? Like I said, it just seemed so out of line with the rest of the vibe and style of the inn.

If the rugs had not been stained and if there wasn't mold in the showers, I would have given the Carriage House an"Excellent" rating. However, as an experienced traveler, I would have to say that these two grievances are unacceptable for $215/night the last weekend in September. There was also no remote control for our TV, but we forgot to mention it as we were barely in the room.

The place is made for those with high expectations. We were on a bike trip so the place was a bit classer than we were but Angus was very nice and helpful, the place has everything and you are moments away from good eats, shopping, bike trails thru the dunes and there was a hot tub for a soak after a long day's ride. Everything was clean, classy and well thought out. Also breakfast was better than a lot of restaurant meals we have had. It is on the upper end of how much I'll spend on a place to sleep but then again it was a memorable place and a great location.

Tastefully done guest house; perfect location, spacious rooms (mine), nice staff & amazing quiche for breakfast. I loved staying here and am already booked for next year.

The Carriage House was an amazing, beautiful place to spend our vacation. The staff were so friendly and accomadating. The Carriage house is centrally located to everything. We made such great friends who were also staying at the Carriage house and truly enjoyed sitting outside having breakfast and visiting. There is no other place we will ever stay but the Carriage house and we have already booked our trip for next year.
