First time ever to P-town and got there by way of the high speed ferry out of Boston.
It was a 95F day in Boston and escaping to the Cape sounding like a fantastic idea. Fast speed ferry was pretty cool -stayed inside to stay cool, and then half way through, to stay dry from unexpected thunderstorms. Upon arrival at Provincetown, we bypassed the tourist walk on Commercial Street and tried to walk to Race Point. BIG MISTAKE! Although the local maps made it seem like a 15 minute walk, it was closer to 5 miles! Do what the smart people did: rent a bike for a fantastic bike ride along scenic paths to Race Point -or- Take the shuttle ($2 each leg per person when we went) that runs every 15-20 minutes between town and Race Point beach. Of course, if you happen to have a car, its an easy drive and there is a good size parking lot at the beach.
Definitely worth venturing outside the P-town city limits to find great sand and surf! Highly recommend!
