My wife and I are not huge B&B enthusiasts, but when we do stay at a B&B, we try and pick well. This was definitely the case with Aerie House & Beach Club, which gets five dots for value and quality.
We were lucky to get a room, after a cancellation - and although it was tiny it had a nice bathroom and was very clean. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and made the stay very comfortable for us. We're pretty shy and keep to ourselves when we travel, which is maybe why we don't stay at a lot of B&Bs, but they did their best to make us feel comfortable.
The breakfast is quite good and one of the owners, Dave, puts a lot of effort into creating something tasty - with tonnes of choice and fresh ingredients. The fruit salad each morning was very delicious and fresh.
Their restaurant suggestions were excellent - although we found the food at most places in Provincetown were above average, which was very pleasant.
A huge bonus for us were the bikes they had available for guests - ten bikes, so highly likely they would be available for any that wanted to borrow one. We took them one day and did the trail nearby - stunning views and great beaches to visit. The ride itself is not long, about 10-15km, but there are lots of hills, which made it challenging in parts. Don't be a fool - use one of their helmets!
The building itself is in good shape - I wouldn't refer to it as luxurious or immaculate - but it is definitely comfortable and well kept. The gardens are beautiful and there are some interesting birds that hang out in the trees. The upstairs patio and the hottub were both fun places to hang out.
The location is well situated, a block north of the "strip" and close to some of the better restaurants. If you're open to trying a B&B experience, this place is definitely worth a stay and sets a high bar - it was reminiscent of Derwent House, which was another top B&B we visited when on our honeymoon in Cape Town. Aerie was also a top recommendation in Frommer's and we were glad it was highlighted as this was a last minute trip.
