“The Pilgrims REAL First Landing Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

This plaque marks the approximate spot where the Mayflower Pilgrims made their first landing in the New World, not in Plymouth as we were all taught, so that fact alone makes it worth a visit. There's a tiny park where you can have a boxed lunch, or take a stroll on the jetty leading to the Wood End Lighthouse. Just make sure high tide won't hit while you are walking out there. This spot is at the far west end of Commercial Street, so it's a walk, but there's sometimes parking available, free or at a meter, if your patient. The shuttle bus stops here in the summer, or take the Trolley tour. This spot is part of their tour and you'll learn all about this bit of misunderstood American history on the tour. Catch the Trolley in front of Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street. There's one every hour, on the hour, all summer, and on the half hour if they're busy.

“A Small Park With a Big Rusting Plaque”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

No biggie. No interesting historic information provided. Just a rusting copper plaque from a bygone era when this was seen as a tourist attraction. Grab an ice cream cone instead and read a book about the Pilgrims on your own time.

“Get beyond the plaque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

Check out the plaque, but spend the day traversing the stone breakwater jetty that traverses the harbor at low tide out to Long Point and its two lighthouses.
