“Lady slippers in the Wild”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Who would have thoguht that we would stumble upon several patches of lady slippers growing in the wild? It was a highlight of our journey around the lakes at Beech Forest. Be prepared and wear lots of insect repellent; unfortunatley we did not and had clouds of mosquitoes around us!

“Where the wild things are”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Magical bike and walking paths. Gnarly trees that house little people and other small creatures. Geese that make a family each year by Blackwater pond. A natural New England paradise. Spring and summer: take along plenty of water, sunflower seed, bug spray and wear a hat.

“A great bike ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

This is a great place to go for a bike ride. The undulating trail travels through a few distinctly different landscapes, with spurs to two different beaches and one pond. The trail is paved and is in great condition, with a painted lane marker for much of its distance. There is ample parking in the national park if you have an automobile pass, or you can easily bike to this trail system from Provincetown in a matter of minutes. The trail was never very busy but we definitely saw everyone from kids to seniors out enjoying this resource. It's easily one of the most scenic bike rides on Cape Cod. Do note that there are a couple of areas that don't drain properly, so following a rain storm those stretches flood. The flooded stretches we passed through were up to 50 feet long with water 2-5" deep. You can't go around them owing to the thick vegetation, so you just have to slow down and go through them.

Wonderful views from the bike trail. Hills were steep at times but the breathtaking surroundings were worth it!

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Beautiful, peaceful forest with well-maintained paths. Great for bird life - we saw lots of fantastic species here including a ruby-throated hummingbird. If you wait at the car park edge with a handful of seeds you may get a tufted titmouse or black-capped chickadee venturing onto your palm. The forest in May is also great for pink lady's slipper orchids.

Only downside.... mosquitoes!!
