“saved by its location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

This motel is located not far from the Plymouth downtown strip and has a terrific view of the water. Otherwise, it is just a motel. The rooms are super basic, although they have mini-fridges, but no coffee makers. Although we got clean towels every day, they are wispy, non-absorbent things. TV reception was iffy on certain channels. And, we stayed on the upper floor, which was wise because our friends staying on the first floor were kept awake by their upstairs neighbors every night. The "breakfast" is not worth the effort, so drive to the Metro Cafe and have a stellar breakfast instead. The outdoor pool is very cold and the indoor pool is small and cramped. The front desk staff is fantastic.

We normally stay at a chain hotel but took a chance based on the reviews here. What a GREAT decision. The place is NOT fancy and not brand new. It is a family run place that is clean and has 2 excellent pools (indoor & outdoor). The location on the water is just spectacular. The kids and I went surf fishing and also walking on the beach catching hermit crabs, crabs and other animals. I asked them for old rags for fishing and they quickly gave me a bunch...great and friendly service.
We have 4 kids under 9 and the room was nice but a bit tight but easily doable (the bigger room became free and offered mid-stay but we choose not to move). We spent time outside not in the room. The one thing I wish they had was one hot item for the breakfast buffet (like instant hot cereal).
Since we got to visit family often we will return because this is now our place in Plymouth.

We stayed here for a long weekend and had a great time. The Pilgrim Sands is a nice clean place to stay. The indoor and outdoor pools are great because when it is sunny the outdoor pool is fantastic but the indoor gives you the option if it is cool or rainy. We walked next door to Long Beach ( about 5 mins ) 2 days and liked the little rest/bar Sandy's at the beach. The beach also had restrooms which is convienent. The hotel has everything you could want. I love that it is a short 5 min ride to the center of town so it is away from the hub-ub but close enough to enjoy. A sice of paradise at Pilgrim Sands.

The fact that we booked for two nights and then extended for another four says it all. We loved the Pilgrim Sands. Its location right at the beach alone makes for a great family vacation. Our 5-year old even learned to swim in the outdoor pool. The fact that there's an indoor pool comes pretty handy if you are travelling with small kids.

Re: rooms: They could need a little touch-up. Not that I would complain. They are perfectly fine, but a bit dated.

Staff was tremendously helpful. And the included breakfast was delicious. Great service!

Room Tip: We looked at one room overlooking the parking lot first. When we had the chance to get an oceanfront...

It's your typical outdated motel by the shore. The big draw is the ocean views, but that's really it. The beds were the worst. The Internet wasn't working. There is a patio were you can see the ocean, but there are people constantly walking by or eating at the picnic tables right outside your door. For $200 a night I expected something nicer.
