Unfortunately the secret is out as the Blue Eyed Crab keeps getting busier and busier which makes it more difficult to get a spot at the small bar, which only has 8 seats and is our favorite place to sit. But whether you eat at the bar or a table, the food is still out of this world delicous.
What sets the Blue Eyed Crab apart from all the other seafood restaurants in Plymouth is that the chef only uses fresh fish and lists the days catch on the blackboard along with where it came from. Specials of the day really are special. I've had the tuna several times and it's always a thick generous piece of buttery sweet tuna. I like it topped with one of his signature sauces, you have a choice of several and my favorite is the sweet chili cilantro that is all flavor no heat.
My favorite thing on his menu is the roasted cod. A simple dish that is so elegant and perfect the way he does it, always moist and sweet and I like that same sauce on it.
A recent favorite is his seafood stew. It's different in that it's not a tomato base, but more of an asian flavor with cilantro and citrus and chock full of seafood. Last time I had it the mix was crab, cod, swordfish, clams, mussels, scallops, sweet potatoes and a bit of spicy sausage. The chef said he uses whatever fish he has that day so the ingredients may vary, but it's always delicious.
Blue Eyed Crab is a little more expensive, but worth it.
