My sister-in-law, six-year-old niece, and I recently spent three nights (Thursday to Sunday) at this hotel while shopping in the surrounding area. The hotel room was the standard fare that we have come to expect from a Holiday Inn Express - clean, spacious and modern. That said, the first room that we were assigned upon check-in had no working phone, as the plug in between the beds had literally been ripped right from the socket, which was still dangling from the wall. We went right back to the front desk to report the problem and the evening clerk actually asked us if we really felt that we needed access to a phone! When we indicated that yes, we really did need to have a working phone in our room, he said that it would be difficult to get it repaired that night and so he would have to move us to another room, which seemed a rather obvious solution when there were literally only a couple of other cars in the parking lot that night and we had arrived just five minutes earlier, so it wasn't like we had unpacked or anything. Our new room was identical to the first but with the standard two functioning telephones, on the desk and nightstand. Although it was a beautiful, early fall weekend, the small outdoor pool looked long neglected and was filled right to the brim with rainwater and the bottom was covered in leaves. By the end of our stay, it had been fitted with a black cover, so presumably it had been cleaned and prepped for the winter months. We didn't spend much time in the room, but we found the beds comfortable and we appreciated having lots of cable channels and a well-stocked vending machine on our floor, since there was no fridge in our room. There were laundry machines available next to the vending machines that would have been appreciated for a longer stay or by someone spending the night in the middle of a longer trip. The included breakfast was convenient and well-stocked each morning with all of the standard choices, including the automated pancake maker that is always a big hit with kids. The cinnamon rolls and biscuits with sausage gravy were quite yummy. The only notable misstep was the complete lack of any fruit choices in the buffet. Otherwise, certainly no one would go hungry, as there were plenty of other hot and cold options available! On the Sunday morning, we found that the breakfast area was particularly busy, with the arrival overnight of a girls' softball team and their families, but we still quickly found a place to sit and the buffet area was constantly being re-stocked with food, which we appreciated. As for the location, it really was perfect for shopping. There is a Target and a T.J. Maxx located just a few hundred metres up the road. The huge Wrentham Premium Outlets complex was a quick highway drive away (8 minutes, door to door) and we were just 10 minutes straight south of the stores at Patriot Place and 15 minutes directly north of the stores in North Attleborough, so we were quickly able to access all of the shops on our list. On the Saturday morning, we took a very pleasant drive through quaint neighbourhoods on a winding country road to arrive at the Natick Mall just 40 minutes later, for a much-anticipated visit to the American Girl store for some shopping and lunch. Other than a Chili's near the Target, where we had a decent enough dinner one evening, there really weren't any restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The front desk could only recommend Domino's for delivery, but we made use of the hotel's free wi-fi connection to locate a Papa Gino's pizza place nearby that quickly brought over a late dinner one evening that really hit the spot. On the Saturday evening, we were also grateful for the complimentary computer and printer provided in the lobby for guests to use, as we were able to check in for our flights and print our boarding passes. Overall, we are very pleased with this hotel and we will definitely be back again on our next "girls' shopping weekend".
