“An enjoyable experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014 via mobile

The food is the same whether you eat upstairs or downstairs in this small restaurant. But the experience takes place downstairs where the cooking is in full view as you eat each extremely tasty course. Fresh innovative salads are served family style and come with the entrees. Most of the menu is vegetarian, but there is a fish or poultry and meat dish special every day. Fresh baked breads and great deserts are also available. Favorites in our party of six were the sun dried tomato pate, the baked eggplant and the sausage on polenta special.

“Delicious Food, Wish We'd Sat Upstairs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

Not your typical Italian restaurant, if you open yourself to Elizabeth's dining experience, you will be rewarded with delicious Italian food with a bit of a twist (touches like cartelized onions, jasmine, lavender, etc.) Entrees ($20.50) come with fresh bread (whole wheat sour dough) & wonderful salad (it varies, but ours had apples, sugar snap peas, dried cranberries, cheeses, etc.) with their lovely balsamic dressing. The salad could have been a meal in itself. For those who don't care for salad, they will happily substitute an appetizer. Their regular menu is vegetarian & they offer daily meat/chicken/fish specials. The eggplant entree was excellent. Dining is casual, with 1960s/70s hitched table/chairs.
I wish we'd sat upstairs (from where we heard a robust & operatic version of "Happy Birthday" sung to a diner. Our table seemed the least desirable in the restaurant, downstairs near the door & kitchen on a warm summer evening. There was some confusion about our reservation & the service was slow getting started, even though we were right under their nose. Although interesting to be privy to kitchen bustle, a rotating floor fan was blowing on us, the restaurant front door was open & as evening fell, bugs flew inside & nibbled on us, creating an unexpected & unwelcome irritation. The food was good, I would try Elizabeth's again, but with a reservation upstairs.

“Great menu for non meat eaters”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

The staff were well informed and ready to listen to specific requests. We were a mixed group of seven with varied tastes. The high point of this restaurant is the varied menu and the abundence of vegetarian dishes. The one slight criticism would be that the portions were hugh but as they tasted so good and we carried out what was left, we will not hold that against this fine restaunt.

“In a house...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

From the outside you would never guess that inside is a wonderful dinning experience. The food was wonderful and the servers delightful. Even the salad was a delightful combination of greens , vegetables and fruits. The entrees are large and delicious . Enjoy!

“Unique, Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

This is a really different dining experience. Very informal, and owner-chef is always nearby to chat and answer questions.
Their everyday menu is strictly vegetarian, and their daily menu has items for the carnivores. The dishes are prepared in unique ways-- for example, the salad had the usual mixed greens with snap peas, celery, watermelon (!), and dried cranberries. I certainly would not have thought of that combination, but it worked (I could have done without the celery, but that's just me).
Prices aren't cheap--$20.50 for the veg entrees. But portions are huge. If you have the included salad and delicious bread as your appetizer and share the entrees you'll have a really interesting meal and won't leave hungry.
I will certainly return whenever I'm in the Berkshires.

Helpful tips: Reservation a must--this place is extremely popular. Cash (or check) only--no credit! Upstairs nicer than entry area.
