Tara B&B provided my wife and our dog Buddy with a great long weekend break. We stayed in one of the two self-contained brick cottages in the spacious grounds. The accommodation was great - super-comfortable bed, ample breakfast provisions (the fridge was packed with food), beautiful freshly baked bread, warm wood heater (make sure you keep this going through the night in winter as it can get quite cold!).
Our dog loved the surrounding garden area (and the dam) and this is certainly a pet-friendly place. The location is great, minutes from Castlemaine, Maldon, Newstead and many other historic towns.
Our host Toni was terrific, providing as much assistance as needed while keeping a low profile so you don't feel that you are intruding on their privacy. While you are here, have a look at the main house (you can also stay in the main house) which has been immaculately restored and is a credit to Toni and her late husband Bill.
In all, a fantastic mix of the old and the new with all the mod cons you need in a beautiful setting.
