“Terrible Chowder”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

All I got from here was New England Clam Chowder, because Young's next door was out of it. After waiting for 20 minutes for them to pour us our chowder, we left to eat by the harbor. When I opened my chowder, it was yellow from oil. A local fisherman pulled up and asked us how our food was (not knowing where it was from) and when we told him he said all they do at Captain Cass is put a clam or two in broth with oil and canned potatoes. And that's what it tasted like too. This was not worth the $4.25 that I paid. Would never come back here again. If you want to get a lobster roll, go right next door to Young's Market. Not only will it be tastier, but you'll save $6.75 per roll ($10 at Young's vs. $16.75 at Cass). DON'T COME HERE!!!

“Nothing fancy, but The Best Lobster rolls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

It's not summer on the Cape until you;ve been to Capt' Cass. Cap't Cass lobster rolls are my standard by which others are measured. And so far, no one can beat them. Unlike most, these are pure lobster, not lobster salad, not mayo'd to death. Just lobster chunks on a toasted & buttered bun. Your choices are coleslaw and fries on the side, or not. Plain and simple.
Of course there are other items to order--clams, scallops, she-crab soup, chowder, and a few more. And hamburgers, although I've never seen anyone but kids eat them. Plastic forks, paper plates and napkins, paper cups. If you really don't want to eat on paper & plastic, get everything to go. That just means more seats for the rest of us!
Be prepared to pay cash, and recognize that you won't get real lobster cheap.

“Great value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

This place looks like a local seafood shack but it delivered a great meal with no complaints.
I ordered the scallop sandwich which came with fries and slaw. There were enough scallops to make three sandwiches and the bun was grilled to perfection. I didn't love the tarter sauce but saved a few calories by using lemon. I thought the slaw tasted fresh and was nice and light. My sandwich was just under $10 which was a value for the portion and quality. My dining partner ordered the fish sandwich which was had a non greasy delightful batter. The decor is basic but you can watch the beautiful sunset at Rock Harbor and dine amongstt the locals!

“A must for lobster rolls while on the Cape...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2009

Capt. Cass is definitely not a "dress up to go out" kind of place....in fact, the opposite is perhaps what makes this place so incredible. It is situated in a small fishing shanty-style house with a few tables and u-shaped counter with additional seating. There is a view of Rock Harbor out the window which provides a great view of the sunset!! The lobster rolls are a MUST. They are truly NO-FILLER with only a touch of mayo to hold the huge chunks of frsh-caught lobster in place. The roll is served with awesome fries and cole-slaw, although I would be happy paying the price for just the lobster roll. The staff is extremely friendly, homegrown, and you will often have the same server anytime you go...I went after a span of 2 years and had the same friendly staff!! They have no liquor license but you can BYOB, so bring your wine, order a lobster roll, and enjoy the sunset!! The other food at Capt. Cass is quite tasty, too, but you cannot go wrong with a lobster roll!!
