“Nice place, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

The room was kept immaculately clean by pleasant staff, and the location was quiet, peaceful and surrounded by green. At night, through open windows I heard the surf crashing on the shore. Wonderful. The state park beach is a short walk away, and is safely on the bike/pedestrian path, not on the roads. The kitchen was well-supplied with glassware, plates, bowls, etc, and the hot water flowed despite a 'full house' in the inn. Great location for a group.

Room Tip: If you like the morning sun, ask for room 40--from the upstairs bedroom, the sun rising over the oce...

The room was spacious and clean, the kitchen was totally functional (and has a full-size fridge; useful for minimizing trips to town,) the grounds were lovely, and the location was just gorgeous. The meeting space in the basement was excellent as well - great for all kinds of purposes.

Room Tip: The bottom floor had noticeable noise from footsteps overhead. I'd recommend getting a top-floor...

I have to say I was truly surprised at how nice my apartment was. Clean. Kitchen well supplied with utensils, etc. Beautiful area, lovely walk along the beach road into Oak Bluffs, even easier on a bike. 1.5 miles maybe? Very friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There are ground floor rooms if you issues with stairs. No elevators (at least in the building we we...

I had a sublime experience here. You couldn't ask for more helpful and attentive staff. There are no words for the location and the buildings are delightful. A Condo style room will accomodate a family, having three beds and 1.5 baths.
This is a superb location for group activities. The staff are experienced and will be flexible and supportive. It is not possible to say enough for how reliable they are.
The only issues are that the lovely bare ceilings don't insulate very well but townhouse style units are on the top floor where this might not be an issue. The conference room chairs are fine for a few hours but any more and you will feel it. The balconies are not private, but rather a deck that runs around the building. This is nice if you're staying with a group. Hot water is iffy in the morning if the building is full but fine in the evening. Building G is not completely accessible to the mobility impaired as the doors are not automated, but there are no stairs to the ground floor condos or the basement conference room. Our group had one person with limited mobility and she managed ok.
It's a reasonable and pretty walk into Oak Bluffs. You will have access to over-water sunrises, bioluminescent jellyfish, and sports activities.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the mainland might have a better chance at internet reception. Ground floor condo units...

I went as part of a large group for a conference, and we took over building G. The lowest level is a conference room. The first floor of rooms is condos, and the second is the townhouses. I was in one of the townhouses, room 41. I thought the layout was nice, though the stairs to the upstairs bedroom are rather terrifying.

I had a couple nitpicky issues, primarily the lack of outlets by the beds in the twin room. I had to move the bed away from the wall to charge my phone in an outlet at the foot of the bed. Also, there is only one shower, so multiple users will need to plan ahead.

The seawall is a short walk to the left, and to the right is a beach access on a bridge where you can watch bioluminescent jellyfish come in with the tide at night. Downtown is a (long) walk or a short drive.

Overall, I liked my stay at the Island Inn.

Weve stayed here twice now. Both times they upgraded us to the 2 bedroom which was really nice. The grounds are beautiful and it was nice looking out the sliding glass doors. There was also a fireplace although they charge for a dura flame log. It was clean but the carpeting was really dirty and the bedspread was scarey. Sheets were sort of yellowish but I put some on the couch to sit on as it was pretty dingy. No coffe in the room and paying for it in the office really bugged me. We've stayed at various places on the Island and this is by far the best value especially for a family with kids. That's why we came back.

Great value for the money! Rustic cabins -- but modern inside-- spread over several acres. Nicely situated between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. Staff extremely helpful in answering questions and giving advice. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Only recommendation, although a small one: I agree with the reviewer who commented about the coffee for sale. Most hotels have a free pot going all the time. However, that's the only criticism, and it's a minor one. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel highly.
