My family went two consecutive nights to Back Door Donuts during our recent trip to Martha's Vineyard. The donut sales operate out of the back door of Martha's Vineyard Gourmet Cafe and Bakery, hence, the name. The line was very long in the rear parking lot where customers assembled, but it was a festive atmosphere, even on the night it drizzled. We got into nice conversations with people around us, and even met one women who'd been coming for years to get her donut fix. Our assessment: chocolate-coated chocolate donut was a bit too sweet. Cinnamon cake donut was nice. Lemon-filled donut was a hit. Apple fritter cost more, but was gigantic, and very tasty; we had to split it between all of us.
