I have stayed there once so far and really enjoyed it. The rooms were quite cozy and comfortable, the hospitality of the employees was amazing, and it was within walking distance to everything. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a place to stay while on vacation.

My husband & i booked room #1 at nashua house. it was our first trip to MV and we booked late, so many places were full. As it worked out, it was just perfect. lovely view/ shared porch. Very historic building. On the weekend, people in the street were a little loud at night, but that would be the case anywhere in town. At one point, i thought the front desk woman was kind of "gruff," but i realized that was just her way after i lost my wallet & she volunteered to drive to the next town (at no charge) to retrieve it.
One short block to the beach, a great restaurant 10 steps away, a great coffee/bakery 1/2 block.
walking distance to everything.
Not as expensive as other places on MV. Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: #1 has a great view & private bath. #2 has a private bath, just not "en suite" and is...

We stayed in room 2 for a week for our 25th wedding anniversary. The room is small but it is nice that it has its own bathroom (across the hall). Deck was nice to sit out on and read - could see the ocean and people heading downtown. Bed was comfortable. Room was small so we unpacked the suitcases into the dresser and brought the suitcases back to the car. There is no dedicated parking and the closer spots are 4 hours only during the day. You can park on the seawall 24 hours and walk across the beautiful park easily enough. We parked close, left to sight see during the day and then could park close again when we returned at night. (remember to fill up your gas tank before you come over to the island - $1 more per gallon on island).
The stairs up to the room are steep and narrow (think 150 year old home) so might be challenging for older or larger people. Staff was very nice and gave us suggestions for breakfast (Linda Jean's), lunch (Fat Ronnie's) and dinner (Red Cat kitchen) all within a short walk. They were finishing up some construction (we went the week before memorial day) so it was a little bit bothersome to hear circular saws at 8 a.m. but we got our days started that way. Overall a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Room 2 and Room 1 have their own bathroom and are on the quieter side of the house except that the l...

A 150 year old guest house sits majestically on the bay with bars, food, and people watching on the street below. The weekend brings a host of yachts and boats which also give visitors a great people watching show. The rooms are tiny, the bathrooms are shared, but there is no doubt at the age of this giant house. Lots of history to be found on it in the foyer. Parking is horrible. We had to wait and wait for someone to leave the street-side so we could park to carry our large bags up the stairs to the house, then up more stairs to the room. No private parking. The noise level can be a bit out of control, but the people watching is amazing. Will definately stay here again. Dont expect much from the owners. They are quite in-congnito 95% of the time.

Room Tip: Any 3rd floor room toward the front of the house will give you the best views. Be prepared to climb...

Yes,it's a treasure of a place.
A bit sad the prices have gone up quite a bit even off season (still the best bargain on the island)!
In high season, the stampede above you (ie., if you're not on the top floor) is impressive.
Very nice, they now have a fridge in the lobby and some snacks as well.
Unfortunately, now,MV is doing well emulating the prices on Nantucket (eg., $30-40 for roast chicken).

I have stayed here twice so far. once on the third floor overlooking the donut shop and again last fall with friends visiting from Seattle Washington and one from Rhode Island. It was so much fun being right in the middle of everything. It is a block (small block, lol) from the main street with all the shopping. look to once side and see the ocean. I plan on staying here again in june 2014. The rates are really good and the rooms are really clean. Enjoy..

Room Tip: I'm not sure there are any bad rooms here. it all depends on what your looking for. most have do...

This building is approx 150 years old. We stayed late April - low season. Beautiful compact rooms. Pretty touches made it feel really special. Both the rooms & the bathrooms (shared) were spotlessly clean. As we were staying low season there were very few guests so noise from other rooms was not an issue. I would imagine that in the busy season that it could be quite loud. Particularly given its location which is right across from a busy restaurant & bar. I have to stress- this was an excellent location & super rates. Best we could find on the island.
