“Illuminating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Stayed here with with our 2 boys and had a great time. Being here for Illumination Night was a special treat. Staff was friendly and helpful and rooms are "cozy" but very nice. If you are ok with the coziness and the shared baths, then this place is fantastic! Location cannot be beat. Walk here from the Island Queen and its door is 100 feet from 3 of the best eating establishments on the island, and from Ocean Park. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends. Cant go 5 stars due to room size and shared bath but, but if there was a special category for cute, cozy, comfortable and convenient (with shared bath) then this is definitely 5 stars in that class!

Room Tip: Each room is unique and the web site has a description of each but I think the room at the north end...

Nashua House was a great choice for us. It was immaculately clean, not a single bit of dust anywhere! The rooms (we stayed in two different rooms) were kind of small but so lovely and nicely decorated. Did I mention how clean everything was? We had shared bathrooms but because they have two on each floor and you can use any one that is free, it didn't matter at all that it wasn't in our room. The bathrooms are very close to all the rooms. The owners were friendly and very accommodating. They had a Keurig coffee maker, fresh cookies and candy in the reception area each day. Close walk from the ferry and this hotel is very convenient to all the major attractions. My husband and I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Nashua House. Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room on either the 2nd or 3rd floor. They have seating outside and it's reall...

The Pros:
The Nashua House is centrally located in Oak Bluffs and very close to a beach, the restaurants, bars and shopping area. They do offer beach chairs and coolers for guests to use at no extra charge.

The Cons:
Tiny rooms and even tinier shared bathrooms that smelled musty. The Hotel, and I'd use that term loosely, is centrally located and therefore very loud. Management even provides free earplugs at the front desk. While I recognize that they can't necessarily control the endless stream of trucks, honking cars, and motorcycles going by at all hours, it is not a place where you will get a solid night of sleep and relaxation.

This was our second annual visit to the Nashua House. As a family of four with two teenagers, we rented two rooms for four nights. Very convenient location near the ferry and the bus stop, great service (you can use their beach towels/umbrellas/coolers and they will keep your luggage before check in and after check out), coffee/tea is available 24/7, the rooms are clean and, although the bathrooms are shared with other rooms, the staff refreshes the bathrooms all throughout the day.

We stayed at the Nashua House for three nights. The staff was really terrific - very helpful and friendly. They lent us beach towels and umbrellas, beach chairs, whatever. We had bikes with us and they had a secure place to lock up at their nearby sister hotel the Madison Inn. Our room was small with a shared bath, but for the price it was great. We enjoyed having a door onto the balcony where we could sit and see the life of the street and even a partial ocean view. The only reason I'm giving it four rather than five stars is that (a) during the rain storm, a small puddle appeared on our floor, and (b) the balcony was shared, so when we left our door open to let the breeze in, neighbors could walk by and it was not so private. But we were really comfy there, the location was ideal, and we'd go again.

Even with shared bathrooms - the place was fabulous. All bathrooms were super clean and kept fresh an the # of them were plenty. I would absolutely stay again. I would try a room with the balcony as the location is wonderful.

My room is #4. I like it very much. Nice views from the balcony.
The staff are all very nice. I also borrowed beach umbrella and beach chairs.
They also have great cookies.
The only inconveniece is that they do not offer breakfast.
