our 3 night stay was flawless. took fast ferry from quonset point, rhode island to mv which docked a few yards from dockside inn. other ferries also dock nearby in oak bluffs, easily within walking distance of the inn. location is everything and the inn is perfectly located next to oak bluffs harbor, with lots of boats, restaurants, shopping, taxi stand, public bus to vineyard haven & edgartown, police station, ocean park, ocean walkway, bicycle/walking/running path, etc.

continental breakfast [served 8-10 am] was sufficient with cereals, fresh homemade blueberry or cranberry muffins, pastry, bagels, toast, bananas, grapes, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, fresh oj. can eat breakfast outside in small back garden or glassed in porch, in your room or porch.

our room with comfy queen sized bed (#24) on the 2nd floor facing the street was quite comfortable, very clean, well maintained with small refrigerated, clock radio, spotless bathroom complimentary q-tips & cotton balls, fresh towels daily, decent lighting, full-length mirror. opened screened windows to allowed fresh sea air to flow through.

bicycle, scooter, car rental agencies are literally steps away from the inn along with a large well stocked liquor/wine store, souvenir shops. enjoyed sitting on porch outside room people watching sipping coffee or a cool drink.

staff was helpful, pleasant, laid back. room was a bit pricey but worth it.

“Good Stay, lousy weather”

Stayed for a weekend. Rainy but the room was fine. Clean, comfortable. This isn't the Ritz, but a good B&B and a good price (especially for MV).

My husband and I booked one night at the Dockside Inn on Martha's Vineyard. It was very close to the ferry, which was nice, but upon further inspection the inn was dirty and worn. We booked a room with a harbor view but the inn does not face the harbor, it faces some shops and a parking lot and is surrounded by other buildings. Out of the corner of the window you could see the harbor. The furniture in the room was dirty and the door needed to be repainted or washed. The bed was very uncomfortable. We expressed our concerns to the manager who would not refund our money or upgrade us to a better room. We returned early from dinner to use the hottub, but the office was closing at 8pm and not 9pm like the info book in the room stated. The breakfast was good, nice variety and filling. We were also able to check our luggage in early and store it there after we checked out untill we got on the ferry. Overall though, it was disappointing because there were many nicer places to stay nearby that were priced similar.

My wife and I enjoyed are stay at the Dockside Inn. As written in previous reviews, it's about a 3 minute walk from the ferry docks, and it located within walking distance of everyting in Oak Bluffs. You definitely won't need a car if you stay at this Inn. The Martha's Vineyard bus system is frequent, reliable, clean and safe, and can be picked up just up the street from Inn.

Our room was smallish but certainly modern, very clean, and cheery. We were greeted with bright colors, fresh paint, new carpet, a new TV with a DVD player, and air conditioning. There was even a small refrigerator in the closet. The Inn staff is extremely friendly. I think everyone who stays at the Inn gets a complimentary breakfast, which had fresh fruit, bagles, muffins, juice, etc. There are plenty of places to eat, read, or just relax on the numerous porches of the Inn. There's also a hot tub and a complimentary computer room if you absolutely must check your e-mail.

My only negative comment I guess I would add is the "value" of the price paid to stay at the hotel- being the frugal traveler that I am. Our tab (for the room only) was $246 bucks including taxes for one night. But if you're the type of traveler that is willing to spend a few extra bucks for extremely nice accomodations, you won't be disappointed.

Marc and staff were very helpfull. The Inn has a great central location, everything you would want it within walking distance. We are planning on staying at The Dockside again for sure.
