“Correction Merry-go-round”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014 via mobile

This place had a nice little history regarding how it came to be. Yes, I can imagine how exciting it would be for a young child back in those days with very little excitement. As an adult, there was very little to be excited about this ride...maybe couples may get a little enjoyment out of it. In all it was nice to see.

“Don't Miss This Historic Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

The Flying Horses Carousel is the oldest, operating carousel in the United States. It has all the charm of years gone by, and for the low price of $2.50, you cannot go wrong. If you happen to hit it at the right time, there is no waiting, and you get to grab for rings as you go round, and round, which just adds to the nostalgia. If you are lucky enough to get the brass ring, you win a free ride. The facility is bright and cheerful, and has a few video games and refreshments for when you are finished,

“Riding A Piece Of History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014 via mobile

While it may not be fancy or elaborate, as far as carousels go, you are riding the oldest carousel in the country! Your butt is riding a piece of history! My kids absolutely loved it! How many of these old rides still exist where you reach for the brass ring to get a free ride? Classic! This is a "must do" while on Martha's Vineyard!

“A Rite of Passage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

The most fun a toddler can have on a boardwalk, anywhere. Everything is SUPER clean, and at only $2.50 a ride (1 parent/guardian rides free), the price is right - for 2014. Misses 5 stars because there's no public bathrooms... however, you can walk across the street to a public facility in about 90 seconds.

“young or old it's the ride for you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

I believe this is the oldest working carousel in this country. If I'm wrong on that forgive me. It's a big attraction for Oak Bluffs and worth the wait in line. Kids have the chance to reach for the brass ring. If you collect the most rings you get a free ride. They also have games so it's a great place on a rainy day as well.
