“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

We chose this hotel because we wanted to spend some vacation days in the Boston region. The location was excellent for day trips to Newport, Plymouth and Boston. The price was very reasonable compared to hotels in Boston itself. The room we had was very large and comfortable. Having the toilet/shower separate from the wash area is a plus for me. The kitchenette area was spacious. I was somewhat concerned that there was only one elevator for a hotel with 4 floors and a large number of rooms but we did not encounter any problems with waiting (although we often used the large stairwell unless we had luggage or other packages). The only complaint that I had was the fan in the bathroom. There was one switch which turned on both the light and the fan. The fan was noisy but we did not have the option of using the light without the fan so as not to disturb others during the night. I would most likely have rated it higher except for this one issue.

Thank you for your response about your stay with us. Boston in the summertime is great. Norwood is a wonderful central location if you are going into town, or down to Cape Cod. I hope you got a lot of sight-seeing in, and hopefully can return soon for another summer!

We stayed here two different stays recently while visiting family in Boston. The front desk staff were great and very attentive to our needs. The little convenience store area in the lobby is great for when you want a cold drink or snack. Breakfast was a good mix of hot and cold items. The only issue we had was that there were a few large groups staying the second weekend we were there so the kitchen was having a hard time keeping the buffet stocked, but they were certainly trying!!

I also liked that were were able to buy some snacks and drinks and keep them in the fridge and had a way to heat up food so that helped to save money.

I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. I hope that you were able to enjoy the breakfast buffet, although it was busy. Our market is definitely a convenience for those nights when you do not feel like going out to the store. Thank you for your great feedback.

Hotel is nice. Rooms are freshly updated. Each suite has a small kitchen area, sofa area, bedroom area, and bathroom. Bathroom has toilet and tub/shower combo. Wash area is separate. Beds are comfortable. Staff is friendly. One fault in the room was that neither of our 2 trash bins were emptied during our 2 night stay. We also noticed public trash bins near outside entrances were overflowing. We asked for a quiet room. Unfortunately, we were near a barking dog and crying baby. There was also a group of teenage boys playing with a soccer ball in the hallway both nights. The hotel has a posted policy on noise. Perhaps, the hotel should give a written copy of their policy to all guests. I do not hold the hotel responsible for noise made by guests. The included breakfast was good. Choices changed daily. The breakfast area is nicely decorated. Coffee/tea was available 24/7. No safe in the room did not pose a problem for me. Also, the cycling noise from the air system does make a noise......not enough to present a problem. I would stay there again if I were in the area.

I chose this property because of it's location & value. Centrally located between the airport in Providence, Rhode Island & downtown Boston (Fenway Park). My family of four stayed on for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom suite.

Pros:
-desk personnel and staff were very friendly and accommodating
-room rate was very competitive & includes free breakfast
-room was large, ready for us and very clean
-property has things to do for kids like basketball, pool and commons area for them to horse around.

Cons:
-Breakfast area was way too small for the amount of guests attending. We could not get a seat. Had to eat in our room.
-Basketball court light wad broken and the netting was in disrepair. We played in the dark.
-Fittings for the pullout bed were incomplete. We had to use a top sheet for the base and use pillows from the main bed.
-There is construction right next door...woke up to the sound of an excavator in the morning. If you need to sleep in, request a room opposite the construction area.

Our overall impression was a positive one and we would stay at this property again.

Room Tip: While construction persists next to this property, request a room opposite this...if you need to sle...

This property brand is as usual top of the notch and always reliable in terms of service, maintenance and amenities.

Indoor pool, great breakfast area, fast service, great people and of course very very clean.

Residence Inn will always be my hotel of choice.

Thanks guys!

Room Tip: Top floor away from the elevator is good.
