“The Best Fried Clams in Norwood?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

While traveling in California's wine country, another man overheard that we were from Norwood, MA. He challenged me to tell him where I could find the best fried clams in a Norwood restaurant. I suggested a couple of places, but had to admit that I had never had really good fried clams here. He told me about the Colonial House having the absolutely best fried clams in town. Recently we had the opportunity to dine at the Colonial House and I decided to put his recommendation to the test.
I would say that, not only does the Colonial House very good fried clams, the other items on their menu are very good quality and fairly-priced. The restaurant is an old establishment in a residential neighborhood. There is off-street parking in their lot. Although the building is old and not especially appealing from the outside, it was reasonably clean and appealing on the inside. Service was very good. The waitstaff are attentive and well-educated on the menu.

“This is where the locals go...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2011

Tucked away in a residential neighborhood close to Norwood center, the Colonial House Restaurant is a hidden gem. What I like most about The Coloniaal House it is that it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. It is a great place to go to have some classic New England comfort food and traditional American Cuisine. If you are looking for fine dining, innovative cuisine, and ulta modern, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for outstanding fried seafood, comfort classics, a full bar, and not break the bank, give it a try.

“Nice Neborhood Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2010

My brother who lives in Norwood took me and my wife to The Colonial House for dinner about two years ago. Tucked away on a side street in a residental neborhood, the building from the outside kinda looks like a Elks hall. But don't be swayed by that. When you go inside it becomes very comfortable, nothing fancy, but comfortable. The front section is a pub type setting and as you go through to the dining area ti is a combination of mostly booths and some table and chairs. The food is very good with a large enough menu to please most appitetes alond with a daily specials list. The service was excelent as it was a saturday night on my last visit. For the money and the portions, it is definitly a good value. It kinda reminds me of another favorite of mine in the area The Halfway Cafe.

“Towns Finest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2006

Remains one of the best in town type of places to enjoy a meal in any area you travel too. Inside may be small and tight but the food and atmosphere can't be matched. Any time I travel home its one meal I never miss.
