“Terrific cozy, charming, and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

Just returned from our second visit to the Centennial and would highly recommend it on so many levels -- the guest and common rooms are charming and feature an Asian decor; the grounds are spacious and well maintained with a pretty gazebo and an old fashioned bench swing; coffee and tea are available all day long; breakfast is served in either a charming, quaint old New England-feel room or in a bright, window-filled sun room, overlooing the grounds.

The hosts couldn't be more gracious and accommodating; in addition to providing a fresh and tasty breakfast to my wife and daughter, Joan also made sure to meet my special dietary requirements with a delicious alternative; Joan and Steve also offered terrific suggestions for nearby restaurants. They make guests feel welcomed and appreciated.

Room Tip: The Deerfield Room -- actually a suite with two separate bedrooms -- has a great jacuzzi-style ballt...

I highly recommend this charming B & B. The hosts were delightful, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely return when we are out in that area.

Deborah T.

Room Tip: The Sturbridge Room was very comfortable and quiet. We did not see the other rooms.

A wonderful visit with charming hosts Joan and Steve. I would highly recommend the Centennial House. It must be beautiful in the spring and summer.

We will be back!

I highly recomend the Centennial House to anyone visiting Northfield or traveling in the area, the hosts are so kind and the rooms are so clean and cozy. We stayed in the Deerfield room and it was wonderful and spacious for my husband and I and our 2 children. Breakfast was yummy and you sit comfortably at your own table so you have some privacy if you would like or you can visit with others that are staying in the home.

Joan and Steve are extraordinarily nice people, so kind, good company (but not intrusive) and run a great inn. We had the Northfield Room, which overlooks the front lawns, a lovely, generous sized room, with ample space for our 3 weeks worth of luggage! The historical house has a room for all seasons - the breakfast room is so nice to sit in, in the sunshine, overlooking the pretty gardens. The 'Great Room' is a large but cosy - feels just like a old Cornish inn.

There is a fridge (along with glasses etc) just off one of the guest sitting rooms - so useful. And the scrumptious cookies and chocolates couldn't be resisted as you sat on the sofa and browsed the comprehensive menus and local information.

Last but by not means least - Joan's wonderful breakfasts! There is the usual help-yourself to cereals, yoghurts, bagels and bread to toast, and then a treat from Joan. The blueberry scones on morning one were divine, and day two brought a delicious puff pastry with whipped cream and fruit - heaven! This was followed by yummy savoury of the day... You must go :0)

It's always gratifying to see a review from someone who has just gotten home--and we love reading those--but to have a guest reflect on the experience more than two months after their visit and take the time to write with such specificity was really touching! It's like you were here yesterday. Thank you, J and I (I think it's you--I HOPE it's you!). Here's to more car rallies nearby in the future! Joan and Steve

A lovely B&B close to the Mohawk Trail and the surrounding communities near Shelbourne Falls. Great location with lots of fun activities from zip-lines to river rafting. My son and I went to the Centennial House for his birthday to get some river rafting etc... The inn keeper was warm and very friendly. Attentive to all our needs and concerns. In the morning she served us a delicious breakfast in the lovely breakfast room overlooking the beautiful countryside in their backyard. The rooms were all very clean and cozy with a private bathroom across the hall on this particular room we stayed in. I plan to return in the near future to the Centennial House for some great hospitality and breakfast with our new friends :)

Just a quick overnight to get away and relax but staying at the Centennial House made us feel like we had a real vacation. From the moment we were greeted and shown around we felt like we were staying at a friend's home. Beautiful, clean, comfortable room (Strawberry Banke), delicious, abundant breakfast, and friendly advice on the surrounding area all helped to make our stay successful.
