“This place needs lots of work.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Our stay started off fine until we got to our room. When we checked in the guy at the rest was very friendly and got us to our room very fast. It was downhill from there. After we carried our stuff in my wife took off her shoes and she stepped in a huge wet spot on the carpet. I kept telling her it was just because someones cooler leaked. The beach behind the motel is clean and has a good view of Ptown. You can get a bus right out front that drops you in town for two bucks. After a night in town we got back to the room to have showers. The water in the shower went from cold to luke warm to cold to scalding hot. If you don't mind staying in a dirty motel that needs a lot of work you will do fine here.

This is a simple motor inn but on a great location, so the price is not cheap. But it seems like a good value for 2 people compared with the surrounding accommodations. Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 138 which has an ocean view (from the left side of the window) on the 2nd floor. Great view from the balcony which is perfect for breakfast! Room was clean and quiet. AC worked, 2 queen beds, small fridge, and coffee maker (BYO coffee and filters and mugs). None of the musty smells typical of high humidity beach side motels. Nice bath with lots of towels.
We loved the beach and enjoyed the indoor pool on rainy days. The motel is on the bay side so you can swim at high tide and walk out on the tidal flats at low tide. The $2 Provincetown shuttle comes by every 1/2 hour, and gest you to the great restaurants and bars of Ptown in 10 minutes or so. Parking in Ptown is about $8-$10 dollars.
Check out the TopMast Café (2 miles south) for breakfast or lunch. Day's store (cash only) is 1.7 miles south for convenience/food items. Ptown Super Stop and Shop (56 Shank Painter Rd) for groceries.
For activities be sure to get a National Park Pass for admission to Head of the Meadows Beach, Race Beach, Herring Cove Beach, Marconi Beach. Check out the Ptown Break water path to Long Point, and the Dune walk north of Snail Rd (keep note of where the water tower and the Ptown Pilgrim monument are since there are no trail markers).
Best sunsets are from Race beach, Herring Cove Beach, and Corn Hill Truro town Beach (free at night). Can do a Lobster dinner take out at CapeTipSeafood in Truro (or take out chicken or sandwiches at Jam's Gourmet Grocery, or take out sandwiches at the Village Café) , but note that the Corn Hill Beach has sand flies if you are trying to eat near the water. Be sure to check out the Payomet Performing Arts Center concerts.

First of all, DO NOT stay here unless you have a car. It is too far to walk into ptown and a cab costs $6-8 per person each way. There is a local bus but that only comes ever 30 mins or so. The place is kept in reasonably decent condition considering it's age, but badly needs contemporary renovations. It is stuck in 1960. I have never stayed in a hotel/motel where there were coffee pots in the room but no coffee. In addition, the bathrooms have nothing except towels and a bar of soap, no shampoo or other amenities.

Pros: Fairly inexpensive, quiet, right on beach

Cons: Very far from ptown center, pool & hot tub are indoors and un-inviting, you have to ask for shampoo - really!, no breakfast or coffee available - just a vending machine and you're a bit of a ride to anywhere to get food or eat, place feels kind of shabby overall. Won't be back.

It's been a while since i stayed in a dump like this! We arrived in the rain, the windows had been left open and the couch was soaked. Ok a mistake. We closed the windows but the water kept pouring in through the window sills. The floors were soaked. Management was sorry but it ended there. The rugs i ignored but i used a roll of paper towels drying the laminate floor in the dining area.
The bedroom was dry but the waste pipe from the room above runs through the wall next to the bed so the rain theme continued. I felt like is was on a camping trip, (at $280 a night).
The sun came out the next day and things dried out but the mold on the upholstery and the spongy wallboard says a lot.
Rooms (around P-Town) are tight and difficult to obtain on short notice this time of year but i would stay away from here if at all possible, (specifically rm#125)

Room Tip: stay away from rm #125

A copy of the email I sent following my stay:

"Some issues with my stay on Saturday night in Room 104:

1) There is a *significant* leak from the toilet supply valve.
2) Cleaning crew apparently knows about leak beacuse there was an ice bucket thoughtfully placed under the valve to catch aforementioned leak.
3) In the future, you may want to consider posting a sign to indicate how often the bucket needs to be emptied (or you may want to fix the valve).
4) From my experience, the bucket needs to be emptied at least every 3 hours, based on the depth of the water in the bathroom when I returned just after 10 PM.
5) Apparently, motel guests are on their own after 10 PM - no way to alert you of the issue mentioned above - you were also unavailable when I checked out the following morning at 7;30.
6) Please consider changing the scent of the air freshener that was copiously sprayed throughout the room - it's actually rather off-putting.

Blue Sea Motor Inn gets 2/5 stars - cheap lodging in a prime location is fine, but you guys need to do the maintenance! I will be posting this to TripAdvisor, as well as your response."

Nothing heard from the motel.

Bill

My wife and I stayed here over the Memorial Holiday weekend with one eye on cost and the other on visiting the dunes and nearby Provincetown. The first room was in the new buildings across the road (300's) and did have a view of the dunes but also had noisy guests and noisy plumbing so we asked to be moved to a room on the original site (100's). This was quite quaint in that it was one of the original single storey rooms that must have been here when the place was built.

To be fair, the front of office and maintenance staff worked exceedingly quickly to try and move us into our new cosy room (expect NYC sized room in the older part of the motel) but I did have to press them about getting a refund of the difference in price.

The older room was also much cooler than expected but again the staff did provide us with extra bedding to keep warm under.

The motel has it's own indoor pool and access to the sandy beach overlooking the bay.

A note on the local amenities - the distance to Provincetown is walkable along the highway (just) but it is a long walk and the roads can be quite dark at night. We walk quickly and it took us about an hour to get into town. There is a shuttle bus outside the motel that will get you there in about fifteen minutes. We would have hired bicycles in Provincetown, but they don't come with front or rear lights.

Maybe the motel might consider providing bicycles for guests?

Room Tip: I like the older rooms (100's), they have just enough room for the bed; the bathroom and your ca...

For years I stayed at the Blue Sea Motor Inn...in an efficiency unit....until one year, i noticed that the ceilings in the 2nd building they purchased (across the street from old building), had black mold/mildew on the ceiling. My girlfriend and I made jokes about it the year we were there and discovered it, but it was also our last year staying there. Plus, the apt rooms always felt very damp.......they were clean, but damp none the less. Bottom line, with a little research you can find a place to say for cheaper that offers more.
