“Do not in any circumstances stay here”

Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort and Conference Center

I am giving this an okay purely because of location. Do not stay here. This is THE worst hotel that I have ever ever stayed in.It is not even worthy of motel standards. Incredulously...and I seriously need my head testing, we paid 300 dollars for one night in and I quote, "their best room"! I could not have been paid to see their worst room and God help it's occupants. You look around and everyone one seems happy...maybe they are just using the beach and staying elsewhere. I would not put my bare feet on the carpet nor allow my children to-I'm just thankful that I wasn't staying with a toddler or baby. Most of the fixtures and fittings in the bathroom were rusted, the toilet was not totally in sustained contact with the floor, the sheets were ripped and balnkets bobbly. Public areas were shabby with bare wires hanging from the ceiling. The corridors were dark, musty and prison like, the doors to the rooms opening outwards-did this used to be a prison? The most hilarious part of our stay was realising that we had been given a turn down service...the sheets were turned down to bring to our attention further the nasty ripped bed sheets-they would do well to stop providing this service! The beach and the sunset was lovely but not worth $300.00. Seriously I would not send my dog here...if i owned one. It needs levelling and rebuilding-a refurb would not be enough. There's a public beach just along from the hotel-stay elsewhere and just visit the beach.

“Don't waste your money on this disgusting place!”

Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort and Conference Center

8/9 found this review helpful

My husband and I were looking forward to a nice three day weekend...within a few minutes of arriving I knew that this was not going to be even close to romantic.

First and foremost, the hallways, rooms, bar area, waiting areas and general surroundings are disgusting. A good cleaning still won't get this place in order. The rugs need to be pulled, the bathrooms need to be gutted, the wallpaper needs to be scraped off.

Upon seeing the Standard rate bedroom (I was paying $170 a night with a 2 night minimum), I was shocked. For that price, I should have at the VERY least had something like a Best Western! The place smelled, and it was very dark and gloomy. The carpet was rough and looked like it had been there for 100 years without a single steam clean. I never stepped on it without socks, (In the attached pictures, the standard room does not look dark but that is because I had set the flash on my camera! It was so dark that when I flipped the light switch, my husban asked if I could turn on the light.)

The main staircase was beyond repair (see the attached picture) it was filthy! Now, even if the rooms were awful, wouldn't the owners at least make the main area look presentable? I wish I had taken a picture of the bathroom near the 'reception' desk and the bar! It looked like a bad bathroom from a highschool without the graffitti. There was a large vent/fan on the side wall that was so dirty, dirt was hanging off of it. The toilets were less than a foot off the floor, and there were no paper towels, just the warm air dryers (ok, but they barely worked). Now, this was the MAIN laides bathroom - people who were there for weddings used this bathroom!!

Don't be swayed by the 'amenities' either! The beach is okay, the outside bar is just awful, the food is truly bad (how do you mess up french toast?), the tennis courts are tar - fine maybe, but just in disrepair.

We learned our lesson - we should have ignored the hotel website and searched looked online for others' reviews!

I was here for a conference, and I knew about the ups and downs of this hotel before arriving.

I had an ocean front room. The view was breathtaking. The beach was nice, and it was great to walk out of my room and jump into the water, which was surprisingly warm.
However, the other reviewers are correct. This hotel probably needs to be rebuilt. I would not call it a resort by any stretch of the imagination. My room had clear signs of mildew on the ceiling, and some fixtures were rusty. There were not nearly enough electrical outlets (the one the TV and mini-fridge were plugged into looked dangerously overloaded). However, my room was clean in terms of vacuuming, linens, etc.
It rained heavily one day while we were there. My room leaked a little in one corner--nothing too bad. But the protected walkways between buildings became nearly impassable with deep puddles, and water was coming into the lobby in a steady trickle, right over the concierge desk. (Never saw a concierge--probably because it's off season). The maintenance crews did what they could--buckets and towels, and they vacuumed up the big puddles.

The food was good, considering the overall condition of the hotel. One night I had some delicious scallops.

The staff was professional and courteous in every dealing I had with them.

The gift shop was closed most of the time we were there.

I felt like I was seeing a grand old lady in her declining days.

I have to say, I enjoyed myself, but I was not paying for the trip, and I did not have my family with me. I'm not sure they would have shared my sense of adventure..

“Decent, but not great”

Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort and Conference Center

We attended a wedding at the Seacrest. We had our room right on the ocean so the children could play right out in the sand. However there were no lights on the outside near our room so walking outside on the boardwalk area was unsafe.

Our room was clean however the blanket on one bed smelled like cigarettes and had burn holes in it. We took it off and used t he replacement in the closet.

The bathroom was clean as well however the lighting left much to be desired.

It is a great place to have a wedding. The food, the ballroom and the atmosphere made the celebration fun.

“Very run down hotel on a nice beach”

Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort and Conference Center

Don't waste your hard earned on this dump. The beach is the only positive aspect and i'm sure you can use that for free. I can confirm the accommodation is as bad as the previous reviews state.
