“hotel stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

This is our first Indigo hotel stay in the priority club hotel chain. We picked this hotel because of it supposedly modern style and close to where we are going to visit. We do not like the hotel because the room is small, with 2 beds, there is barely room to walk around. And, we always hit the bed frame which is rectangle that has sharp edges.

This indigo is away from everything, but not in a good way. next to a freeway in a pretty dull neighborhood, it's a standard place with not much character. some of the rooms have vertical narrow skylights on the wall that have no blinds. This means that if lights bothers you, you have no choice, you are going to wake up early in the morning as the sun rises whether you like it or not. The bathroom was very narrow with no space to put your toiletries bag. my first breakfast there took 20 minutes to be served, although the restaurant was nearly empty. It's a sad place specially if you are going for business, you really feel you want to be back home.

Reminded me of an Ace Hotel where that take a crappy run-down hotel and make it cool, young, and hip.

The hotel itself was on the hip side. They had a great hotel bar that was pretty well attended. They had a modern lobby with pop music playing, and the pool area looked like a Vegas pool area outside of Boston. There were conference rooms that looked similarly modern.

The location was not the best. Down the block from the green line and near highways, but still 45 minutes outside of Boston. So - not the greatest for tourists. Even for business, there were no easy bars, restaurants, markets, etc. nearby. I got in at 10 or so and with my west coast body clock, set out only to find a 3 or so mile walk between the hotel and any life.

The rooms were pretty small and you could tell there were modern fixtures that were bolted on to an existing challenging room/bath. It wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. I thought the bed, however, was very comfortable.

So - would have liked a better location, but the hotel itself was

Dear Xfortythreex,

Thank you for choosing the Hotel Indigo Boston - Newton for your recent stay in the Boston area. We are pleased that you shared your expereince with your fellow Trip Advisor partons.

The staff will be excited to hear about your enjoyment of the bar area and the comfy bed your described. The location of the hotel in the Boston suburb of Newton is 10 miles from the city proper. Due to our proximity to the Mass Pike and Green Line T station the hotel is popular for those customers who want to expereince Boston without staying in the City.

We hope to see you again during a future trip to the Boston area.

Sincerely,

I thought this was an overpriced hotel. The rooms are small and the cost was huge. Whilst the restaurant is absolutely outstanding, I was very disappointed by the rest of the hotel considering how much I had to pay for it.

Dear Nick H,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience while staying at the Hotel Indigo Boston - Newton Riverside Station. We value the comments from our guests and are always looking for ways to improve the guest experience.

We are thrilled that you enjoyed our Bokx 109 Steakhouse restaurant. It is the talk of the area and very popular. I am sorry that you did not feel the value in your hotel stay for the price paid. The time of the year in which you visited is peak season for the Boston Area and rates are reflective of supply and demand. This is similiar to special events like the Super Bowl, World Series, Boston Marathon and college graduation dates.

I hope you choose to visit us again soon and have another great meal in Bokx 109!

Sincerely,

The location (right off 95 and Mass Pike) and the downstairs bar are pretty much the only reason this hotel has 3 stars and not less. Agree with other reviewers about the lack of space for luggage and terrible bathroom design. The shower door didn't seal with the jamb so it leaked water and soaked the bathmat every time. Had to put my shaving kit on top of the toilet tank because my girlfriend needed the remaining space for her stuff. Bathroom = terrible. Bed was supremely comfortable though, I'll give them that. The bar downstairs was a lot of fun for all of us coming back after the wedding reception. The "We Don't Do Shots Rule" is annoying but understandable. Patio had a large fireplace with furniture that was pretty cool. Overall, pretty average experience.

We chose this hotel only because during the long weekend when we were visiting all hotels downtown were crazy-priced and this one seemed as a more reasonable price-value combination.
Unfortunately, we err-ed on the value side.
The only plus of this hotel is closeness to the T and cheapness of parking.
The room was small, the bathroom didn't have any counter big enough to put your travel purse on, bed and pillows were uncomfortable.
Sound isolation is terrible - noise from the hall carries all the way in. The floor in the room is not carpeted in the main area and therefore if someone above you wears hills you hear it very well.
