“A treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Very luxurious to watch a movie in amazingly comfortable reclining seats. Turkey club was pretty good. Iced tea was in a small-ish glass with a lot of ice. I loved that we were able to pre-reserve specific seats. There's no doubt this is a great way in which to enjoy a movie but it'll definitely be more of a treat for me than a regular destination. Would give the $20 seats a try next time although thy seemed to be a bit too close to the screen for my taste.

“Moviegoing the way it should be!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is a luxurious experience indeed. The spacious, padded leather recliners are so comfortable, and the option of having beer or mixed drinks served to you in your seat is fabulous. The full dinner and dessert menu is also a treat. I will warn everyone away from the truffle fries. They were horrid; worst fries of any kind that I've ever had. The free popcorn, however, was splendid. I got the "chocolate-covered macaroons" but they were, in fact, French Macarons, which is a completely different dessert item. I would think that a high-end place like this would know the difference. But they were darned tasty!

“Good theater - but know the system”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

You can get $20 assigned seats at the theater that come with a $5 credit towards food/drink. In theses seats you can only order before the film (not during), but I don't go to the movies to eat a meal. I got a domestic beer for $5 so the prices aren't too bad. So $20 for a film and a beer was not too bad.

“Comfortable and luxurious. But is it worth the money?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

The Showcase SuperLux cinema is a new addition to the expanding Chestnut Hill "The Street". Upon walking into the theater, you will likely be shocked by the enormous lobby/waiting area. It is almost like a 5-star hotel lobby. When you walk in to buy tickets, you will approach a large help desk, which looks like a concierge desk but is round.

Just like on an airplane, you will have to choose your theater class and assign some seats. If you opt for the SuperLux package for $28 (equivalent to an airplane's First class cabin), you will be treated to power-reclining leather-wrapped seats, and will be treated to complimentary butler service, and unlimited popcorn. If $28 seems a bit much, select the $20 LuxLite package (equivalent to an airplane's Business class). It features very comfortable (and slightly reclining) seats, located at the bottom of the theater. From what I remember, it does not come with complimentary popcorn.

While all of these amenities sound great, some are overrated. The SuperLux power-reclining seats only move in 2 ways, so the seat moves essentially as it wishes (no adjustments available for the leg rest or just the back). Therefore, it can be uncomfortable for some, especially during long movies.

The $20 LuxLite package seems to me like it's very overpriced. It seems like a cheaper alternative, but in reality costs twice as much as a regular movie ticket, and lacks the justification.

As for an "Economy class" configuration? This theater does not offer that. Quite unfortunate. I believe that the theater will succeed more if it offers an economy class as well. They should learn from the airlines, in my opinion.

I would recommend going to this cinema if you have no problem spending the $28 for the SuperLux package. Other than that, don't bother with the LuxLite. You can watch two movies for the price of one at a different cinema.

“You have to do this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

So I usually pay $11 for a ticket then $11(at least) for popcorn and a soda. So why not spend a few extra bucks once in a while to be TOTALLY pampered. Not your typical dinner/movie venue, either. Small theaters, excellent service, great food, atmosphere like an exclusive country club. And those electric leather loungers??? HEAVEN!
