I'm not a huge Mexican food fan, but definitely a food snob, so when my friends planned a get together here, I just thought I would have to suck it up and order some kind of salad and get through the night. I was pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu...something for everyone. They even have gluten free choices marked on the menu. Everything from tacos and burritos to seafood and steak specialties. We had the guacamole, which is prepared fresh table side and you can choose the level of spice...delicious! I had the camarrones (shrimp with avocado, cilantro, tomatoes, over rice)...again, delicious! Everyone in our party of 9 was very happy with their meals and left full...portions are on the larger side.
Service is excellent and the wait staff is friendly, gracious, and on top of things. We happened to be there on Tuesday night when they have a live Mariachi band. Very festive and fun! They definitely made our going away party. Never heard a mariachi version of "Sweet home Alabama" before and they take requests. They seem to have something going on each night...trivia, Mariachi, etc, so check the website. Seems like a hugely popular restaurant, so parking can be tricky. I don't believe they take reservations either.
The atmosphere is fun...felt like I was in Don Quixote's house! Dimly lit with candle light and old fashioned Mexican furniture & decor. This restaurant might be a little cheesey and not up to par if you're looking for truly authentic Mexican, but this is New England and probably as close as we get here! If you like margaritas, this is the place...quite an extensive list. And if you love coconut, try the coconut margarita...yum! Will definitely be bringing my husband here, and he's going to be in shock that I want to go to a Mexican restaurant!
