“Great Mexican in Mass is hard to find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

But we FINALLY found it in Maynard! El Huipil has good Mexican food, yes! the real deal in Massachusetts! And THAT is hard to come by in these parts! The prices were also good, and the ambience was great.

And for the cherry on top, it's right across the street from the Fine Arts Theater! Which is a small, family run theatre with cheap seats that runs first tun films!!! CAN'T BEAT THE COMBO!

“Still Great, But Prices Creeping Up”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

My little family went for dinner recently, and their business is rightfully booming. Ingredients and meals are mostly fresh. Meats involved in the meals tend to be lower quality or seem so, but the flavors and seasonings are still very good. My wife was not, however, thrilled with the quality of her thin sheet of steak. The guacamole is delicious. The restaurant is still BYOB if you want, which is a big plus. They now have table service along with counter service - still your choice but perhaps not for long. Table service adds to the tab. Still a great buy, and meal.

“Best. Chicken. Mole. Ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I tried their mole for the first time at Taste of Maynard which also won Best Entree at the event. Amazing. Also they have horchata now! Still love their fish tacos. We heart El Huipil...

“Hidden authentic gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013 via mobile

Stopped in on the off-chance this would satisfy my longing for good Mexican food since my recent trip, and as luck would have it, it did!

The pork adobado was delicious. As for the churros, I had to share with the next table because the portion was huge! Definitely planning to stop by again.

“Authentic cuisine of Oaxaca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Don't be fooled by the simple decor, or dismayed that regardless of where you sit, Frida Kahlo seems to be looking right at you from a poster on the wall. This is serious food. It is prepared to order from fresh ingredients by folks who are passionate about what they do. To say that the prices are reasonable would be an understatement. To make things even better, it's a BYOB establishment. Throw some cerveza into a cooler and tote yourself off to El Huipil!! One word of caution: this place is a bit difficult to find. It is in the municipal parking lot, next to Aubuchon Hardware.
