“Very pleasant -Pheasant HIll”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2007

We just returned home from Marblehead and the Pheasant Hill Inn. The Innkeepers, Nancy and Bill were very welcoming and helpful with restaurant recommendations, sightseeing information and transportation options. Nancy even lent us raincoats before we spent an entire rainy day in Boston.

We spent 3 days at the Inn. Breakfast was beautifully set up in the dining room each morning. It included a delicious fruit plate, cereal, an assortment of breads, muffins and croissant, a variety of toppings and coffee and juice. Our suite, the Garden Suite was absolutely lovely and included a lot of extras like a refrigerator, CD player, cheese knife and board, wine glasses, cork screw etc.We especially enjoyed sitting in front of the fire in our suite after our fun but damp day in Boston. The towels and linens were high quality and the suite was exceptionally clean. It was great to come home to such a warm, comfortable room after exploring the North Shore. I am already looking forward to a return visit.

The innkeepers, Nancy and Bill, are very freindly and knowledgeable of the area, local attractions and events. They were a great asset in helping us plan day trips to nearby attractions. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for the proximity to the ocean, downtown Marblehead, Salem and Boston. The suite was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was an expanded continental with fresh fruit, breads, muffins, cereals and fresh juice. Coffee and Tea were available throughout the day.

This was our stay No.2. Both were truly 1st class. Hosts are professional in all ways. Suite well maintained: Clean, Top quality bed & bath accessories, Nice "Peek-a boo" view of harbor, and good selection of breakfast foods. Would definately return when the occasion arises again.

My mother and I come here every time we are in town. We love it, due to its warm welcoming owners, Nancy and Bill, beautiful settings, and peaceful rooms. I would recommend this inn to everyone who would like to enjoy a nice peaceful stay.

This B&B is in a very quiet neighborhood a 15 minutes walk from downtown Marblehead. The property is very well maintained with beautiful and luxurious gardens. The house is a large turn of the century one family that is both cozy and well appointed. The Tree Tops suite was spacious, very private and comfortable. Our host, Nancy was polite but somehow didn’t feel at ease and more importantly didn’t seem to enjoy her role as a host. We found it quite odd that breakfast was served only from 8:00-9:30AM and it was made quite clear to us that this was not a flexible schedule. I figured we were going to come down to a glorious breakfast that demanded the chef’s full attention during that hour and a half timeframe. However, breakfast was composed of a few lousy slices of white bread and English muffins along with a self serve thermos of coffee, juice and some fruit. It is a little beyond me why this continental breakfast could not be made available to guests later than 9:30AM… Most B&B seem to pride themselves on offering a special start to the day but this was not the case here. A minor inconvenience was parking. The owners have their own driveway and garages but guests are invited to park in an upper driveway next to the entrance. However once four cars are crammed into that spot, it is quite a challenge to extricate your car without either running over the beautiful hedges, scrapping another’s car, etc. Luckily we have a small car (and even so, it was quite a challenge with three other cars still parked) but anyone with an SUV would probably find it quite painful and nerve-wracking.

I can definitely recommend this as an alternative to staying in Boston on your way to/from Logan. The airport's just about 30 minutes away (traffic included!) and it was so nice to unwind between a long drive and a long flight. This is a great place with an elegant and homey feel. We stayed in the Tree Tops Suite, from where we could hear the surf. Definitely the personal touches made it special - our hosts had a fire in the fireplace when we "checked in" and a dinner recommendation ready. We had to leave early and couldn't enjoy the full breakfast, but it was nice to have a basket of muffins and drinks in our parlor. Great that Bill & Nancy Coolidge are so flexible!

Spacious suite tucked away in serene setting. Gracious host and hostess. All kinds of nice touches-- super bed, comfortable chairs, lovely deck and all kinds of thoughtful extras -- paperbacks, magazine, CD, playing cards, refrigerator, bottled water, etc.
Would recommend it highly.
