“A Classy B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

We were new to this area , how lovely . This is a place to unwind . Take a jacuzzi , read a book by the pool , walk to the historic sites in town . You don't have to drive to enjoy your vacation once you land at this well appointed friendly quiet clean B&B. We plan to return :)

Room Tip: The suites in the back are very quiet and spacious .

My husband and I stayed at the Harbor Light Inn for three nights during our vacation to reconnect with the North Shore of Boston. We're so glad we stayed at this well-appointed and perfectly located B&B with all of the amenities of a hotel. The breakfast spreads were varied and delicious. Would love to see it at holiday time!

My wife and I were in Marblehead for a wedding and were able to book a room at the Harbor Light. while the room itself was smaller, it came with a large private deck (maybe not useful in Winter, but a lovely addition in summer). While thee room was cozy, we never felt cramped.

The design and decoration of the building and rooms is colonial and very inviting. the sitting areas downstairs would be a perfect place to while away the hours reading a book or doing a puzzle.

They serve a nicely prepared breakfast buffet every morning as well.

The staff and management are warm, knowledgeable and inviting.

The only negative is the walls are a little thin. Our neighbor apparently needed the television to go to sleep each night and we heard it, but this was a small distraction from the wonderful overall experience.

A great location and a relaxing stay.

We had two rooms from july 3rd thru july 5th ---

Hospitality and Service was the best - beautiful clean rooms -- elegant breakfast buffet
Historical location nestled in old town Marblehead - walking distance to historical colonial
mansions and famous sights/ harbor/restaurants/boating/swimming/fishing/touring.
The Inn is quaint and very well appointed in decor and furnishings. The pool with cabanas
and the surounding grounds are a perfect place to relax and unwind. We wil be back next
year.

This is more than a place to stay. The "light fantastic" experience includes all of the amenities you might expect from a contemporary hotel while maintaining a completely elegant and colonial atmosphere. Most rooms feature working fireplaces, private baths and genuine furnishings of the period. We loved the cozy club room where we shared after dinner drinks with special friends from the neighborhood of twisting, narrow and high curbed streets. The breakfast layout is not only extensive and diverse but served with real silverware, glassware and cloth napkins. From the dining rooms you can view the pool and garden area. Parking is off-street and out of sight. This is no place to rush in and out of. In fact, since it rained the day we were there, we found the 'living room' suitable for reading and conversation. Overall, the Harbor Light Inn is an immersion experience the historically minded traveler should not miss. Breathe deep. Relax and enjoy.

Gary, we are so pleased to hear you had the opportunity to enjoy all that the Harbor Light Inn has to offer. It really is a great place to just relax on vacation. I'm happy to hear you took the time to enjoy our Wine and Beer Tavern which is so friendly and intimate. All of our common rooms are so welcoming we are glad you had the time to sit and just read. We look forward to seeing you on another trip.

What a perfect place to stay!!
My husband and I had carefully researched and planned a stay at what appeared to be a great place in Marblehead, only to be really disappointed upon arrival. Luckily we were able to book a room as walk-ins at the Harbor Light Inn, through excellent service at the front desk, and a beautiful room on the top floor. We were so relieved, so happy to have stayed here! A lovely house- hundreds of years old if I remember correctly.... A queen bed with open-beamed ceilings and sumptuous decor greeted us, (we were allowed to tour and view our choices first, and then select our room.) I literally took a photo of the art on the wall above the bed because it was just so beautiful! Exceptionally clean, and the staff was amazing.
And you'll find more art, perfectly capturing the history of the area, throughout the hotel. We enjoyed the breakfasts, wonderful selections, and loved walking to the fort and park nearby- watching the boats in the harbor at sunset with the view of the neck across the water was gorgeous. We found a lack of variety where dining was concerned, it was a sleepy town, but wandering the tangled layout of gorgeous streets, admiring the homes, architecture and learning about the area's history was truly relaxing for us. We'd definitely stay here if in the area again!

Imagine a comfy four-post cherry bed, a crackling fire in your room, a pub at the foot of the stairs, a pool, and located on a narrow street just steps from the harbor...now add in a gracious, accommodating host. I stumbled upon this treasure while on a business trip and I can't wait to go back with my honey. It even had a claw-footed tub and complimentary bath salts. I hesitate to recommend it, only because I selfishly don't want them to be full when I want to go back, but this place has earned my praise and endorsement. A short walk to the picturesque harbor (we're talking maybe two blocks) that is so worth the view. Quaint shops with great decorating finds. Room 26 was perfect, unless you are a large build, because the tub is a bit narrow.

Thank you for such a glowing Review! Being the seasoned traveler you are, your praise means so much to us. We look forward to your return visit with your honey next time. When you do book in the future, the room you were in with the claw foot tub was actually room 28. We do have several rooms with double Jacuzzis and fireplaces so be sure to ask which ones to make the most out of your stay. We look forward to seeing you again.
