“Comfort Mexican Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

We have eaten here a few times over the years and found the service and food to be good. Just right for a tasty dinner on a snowy New England afternoon and better for a spicy lunch with dark beer after a hot summer's bike ride. The prices are reasonable. Just wish the big TV's were turned off.

“Good honest food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We visited on an early Friday afternoon. We were greeted in a friendly manner and seating was available right away. We were quickly served hot taco chips and a well prepared salsa. We tried the special lunch. Two tacos, one chicken and one pork. Chicken certainly was good. The pork was wonderful. Served with beans, rice and veggies with shredded cheese. The servers were pleasant and friendly. Food came quickly served on toasty warm plates. This is a great place for an honest plate of food. If you are looking for upscale Mexican food this is not the place. In all an honest, good sized and tasty meal.

“Big plates and blue margaritas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Who would guess on a Tuesday a place is so packed you should have made a reservation? Ixtapa Cantina is that place at 7. It's hopping and everyone is having a very good time. To say it's family-friendly is an understatement. Every single table has kids except us. We have left all of our kids at home.

Someone is drinking something blue. It's a margarita that's been enhanced with blue Curaçao and they are popular. Margaritas are the drinks of choice: there's your regular, your Cadillac with Grand Marnier, el presidente with Cointreau, and the ultimate which also has Cointreau. El presidente comes with a mystery ingredient "a little something we think you’ll enjoy" which is still a mystery because we didn't have one. Oh, well. Beer is icy cold, the way we like it.

We order a taco salad which is big enough for a family. I would have liked it better had it come with the beef the waiter suggested. And G, who ordered chicken in her chimicangas, got my beef. Being polite, we eat it. They were fine. They were big and fine. Portions are so big that every single table has take-out containers piled up. And soon so do we.

We think this is a cool place with an emphasis on fresh. You'll find them in Woburn, Lunenburg and coming soon in Groton

“Just so so.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

The service is very good and they offer coupons but the food is very ordinary. Good but not great. Been there twice. Not sure I'll go again.

“Good family place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Mexican food is ok, about average, nothing to get excited over. Prices were good and a good place to take the family / young kids. Enjoyed my sizzling fajita, but I would not go back, had much better Mexican food elsewhere.
