We chose this hotel based on it's proximity to the Lenox area in the Berkshires; an area we hade never been to, but wanted to visit. The reviews were good and it was priced affordably, so we took a chance. The reason the place is affordable is that it sits a couple of miles outside Lenox, the more desired swanky little sister town with the cutesy shops. The hotel itself sits on Route 7, so you are not too isolated. But it turns out the place was perfect for a family of 4 with 2 five-year olds. The place was very clean, the staff was very pleasant, and the rooms were well insulated against hallway noise. There were 2 pools, so you can swim inside or out, and neither were crowded. The outdoor pool was colder, but the indoor pool features an skylighted roof, so it feels like you are outside. A nice bonus was the free continental breakfast. They offered everything from homemade waffles to fresh pastries. They even had made-to-order omelets on the weekends. Trust me, for some places, "free continental breakfast" equates to apples and some prepackaged Entemann's danishes. This was a fair deal. There isn't a ton of things to do for kids under 7, so you need to be a little creative, like picnicking at a nearby lake or going for ice cream. It should be noted we weren't looking for amusement parks and just wanted a clean place with a pool to chill out for a few days. If that is your bag, then the Yankee Inn is great choice.
